Well I don't see him going far in MMA and if he fights more than once I'm sure the fighters he will be facing will be straight up tomato cans but I'll watch his debut out of sheer curiosity.

always wondered how old Batista really is. I know his (probably accurate) bday was listed as Jan 18 1966...then I believe the WWE got embarrassed about him being as old as he was and trimmed some years off, changing his year of birth to 1969.

Duncan Doughnuts...Rashid Evans, I'm amazed they didn't get some guy called Bartista.

I'm guessing most of the promotion for this fight will come from the confusion of people going, "Batista is fighting Rashad Evans? The UFC guy? Really? I might watch." Whatever works.

Does anyone else see Batista getting utterly decimated?

Does anyone else see Batista getting utterly decimated? I'd be surprised. If he did real, professional MMA training for even 6 months, he'd be far better trained than the guys he'll be fighting, I'd bet. He has access to training that normal tomato cans wouldn't through his fame and money. And I think he's trained on and off for a lot longer than 6 months at this point. And he is an athlete, with the accompanying work ethic, physical conditioning, athlete psychology, which again, will probably give him a huge advantage over the guys he'll be fighting. The guy he's facing in his first fight has never fought professionally in MMA either. My money's on Batista.

I hope he goes far, then shows up in five years to show up at the end of Raw to powerbomb Cena and face him at Extreme Rules.

Dave is over 40. 2. He was injured a lot. 3. He constantly botched his finisher, which should be noted, the opponent helps you out with. If Batista was barely competent and as fragile as a faberge egg in a staged fight, what chance does he have in a real one, tomato can or not? Kimbo Slice vs Seth Petruzelli ring a bell?

Good points in terms of why he'll never have any kind of MMA career, but he ain't going to be fighting no Seth Petruzelli. There are 40+ old guys out on the regional MMA circuit, I bet he'll be paired off with a lot of them, guys who have minimal athletic background, little or no MMA training or experience. I think the question is - can Batista beat up a 38-year old insurance adjuster who goes to his local MMA gym after work every Tuesday? I think he can.

But at some point, after his 3rd or 4th hollow victory, somebody's going to chime with "Well if he's so tough why doesn't he face off against ______?" Beating up jobbers will only get him so far before the novelty wears off and nobody cares anymore.

Everything about that story, from Batista, to them not knowing the spelling of Dunkin Donuts, to them making sure people know he's not facing Rashad Evans, makes me L to the OL.

As long as he's not fighting Booker T, he has a chance!

First it's Rashid Evans at the Duncan Doughnuts Theater, then onto Toto Ortiz at the Booger Kang Auditorium.

He's had various martial arts training before entering WWE and has been training MMA since then. I think the time off from WWE will at least help his body recover from those injuries, but he's still old and has had a lot of injuries. I think Batista really wants to at least have one professional MMA fight. I think he has a passion for MMA and wants to have at least one fight.
