God, I hope not. I never understood this idea anyways, since Punk has moved on from the Straight Edge Savior. I could book that match 100 times better in my head than it would ever deliver and sometimes that's for the best. Austin's exit at Wrestlemania XIX was perfect. Let the man move on,

I don't see the point of this since Austin pretty much has it booked out in his head to a predictable conclusion. No point in having a match if everyone already knows what's going to happen.
Then again they're wasting Brock Lesnar in alot the same way, so who knows...

Nope, and it shouldn't happen. Why does everyone want to see Punk eat a stunner so badly? So, Austin supposedly has a few matches left in the tank, he shows up works an angle with Punk and has a Mania match and maybe a rematch and that's it. Wasn't Rocky villified by some for doing the same thing this year? It wasn't so much Rock coming back for a match or two, it was Rock coming back for a match or two while trying to make it look like he's back for good. Except he never made it seemed like he was back for good. Only people who thought that were those who took him saying he was "never going away" as "I am back for good and going to be on RAW every week like its 2001 again." Good thing most people understood that he was saying he was not going away from the WWE like he did for 7 years.

I never took it as him being back for good, but I did take it as, him appearing as often as the "usual legends" whom everyone complains about do (Dusty, Piper, Slaughter, Snuka, Duggan, etc.) except with the added bonus of still being able to go in the ring on a semi-regular basis.

It's never happening. Austin will never wrestle again.

See now I feel strongly that it doesn't need to be Straight Edge vs Beer Drinker instead Austin has always been viewed as an outlaw, a guy that doesn't play by the rules and is the ultimate anti hero in wrestling history. Punk comes along proclaiming himself as different, original and a guy that goes by his own rules and beliefs, like Stone Cold an outlaw. Think of it like the Piper's Pit from Mania 21 and the argument Piper was putting across the fact that he was the guy that did everything that Austin did before him, and that he is pretty much a cheap knock off. Austin is Piper, and Punk is Austin in this situation. I think it is a strong enough idea to base a feud around. Make Punk the heel who comes over as a cocky arrogant kid and Austin returning as the original anti hero. Wasn't Punk's last Mania match based around a returning legend calling him a rip-off? Anyway, I don't see it happening. Would've made sense two years ago, wouldn't really now. I would happily bet money that Cena vs The Streak will happen though.

Punk would need to be heel for it to work, but he's worth more money as a top face for at least a few years more so I cant see it happening.

Except it wasn't made to look that way, only in the eyes of people who wanted to see things that way. But as far as the question goes...no it ain't happening. Also it won't be represented here, but I think the overall fan base had more invested in Rock/Cena than they ever will in Austin/Punk.

I don't find that match all that exciting to be honest.

I really do think Austin's career is over, so I voted no.

Austin/Punk will probably never happen.
Cena/Taker, on the other hand, is pretty much going to happen at some point at 'Mania. WWE would be idiots not to.

Ok...NOW I wanna see it.
Face Punk vs. Austin didn't interest me one bit. The fun is gonna be in the promos and I didn't need any "mutual respect" bullcrap in what should be an epic buildup full of HATE.

Punk's a heel again so it would work in the "face/heel" manner but the fact is the WWE doesn't want to show something like that. For example in the WWE '13 poll they showed Austin/Cena and had Cena win saying it was "the" dream match. Honestly I don't see it ever happening. Maybe a confrontation but not at a WM or anything.
