While the heel turn seemed random, I love the fact that someone finally got the upper hand against The Rock for once. Pretty much this. I was so pissed when it looked like they were gonna give Rock another huge show where he stands tall over the current roster. I love how having the audacity to nail a glory hound who earlier in the night got in your face and said he's coming back in six months to take your title is a heel turn but EVERYONE LUVZ DA ROCK!!!!~!!!

Punk is a heel. That much is obvious. He's not your standard heel though but he's a heel. Hell, Lawler saying he turned his back on the WWE Universe is proof of that. It's what the WWE wants you to think and also given the fact that he attacked Rock of all people is more proof. Punk's best as a heel anyway although I loved face Punk. I wish he was face longer, a few more years. I didn't expect this. Not only that but when's the last time you saw a dominant WWE champion like that? I'm shocked but I guess what happens happens.

They're not going to turn Cena heel right now. To expect that is just unrealistic. But I do think it was the wrong move to turn Punk. There was... absolutely no need for it.

How is Punk a heel? Maybe next week he cuts a promo turning but as of now, he's what he was last year, a pissed off anti-hero. He didn't take advantage of Cena when he could have but still let Show do his thing and then went after the guy that has stole his spotlight all year.

I thought it was pretty well done, but I'm a huge fan of Heel Punk.

He definitely does great work as a heel, but if he actually does go full-blown heel, I have no idea why they did it. To me, it makes no sense other than they couldn't have two big, distinct babyfaces.

Seems unnecessary; but he is a great heel, so there's that at least.

How the hell did Punk look like a chump? He got the upper hand on the Rock. By only doing so by catching him completely by surprise, after getting his ass completely handed to him by Cena.

CM Punk is the type of character whose explanation you have to hear before you know if he's a face or a heel. Punk is a complex dude. Need to know what's going on in his head before I classify him as a heel. Very good point

I so badly want him to go on Raw next week and deliver another "pipebomb". This time saying how although he's defended the WWE Championship at the last six PPVs (or however many it is), he's never been in the Main Event at any of those shows (IIRC). In that time he's played second fiddle to Cena, Lesnar, The Big Show, Johnny Ace and will be lower down the card than HHH at SummerSlam. And he's sick and tired of it.

Best case scenario - he turns into a rogue, everyone can kiss my ass tweener, until he beats Rock at RR. fans turn him into an Austin type babyface, then never looks back as the true #1 in WWE.
Worst case scenario - WWE flip flops from week to week on Punk's character, never really explaining why he turned in the first place. He aligns with Big Show (again, never explaining why), drags to the Rumble, and gets beaten soundly by Rock. Rock/Cena headlines WM, while Punk never really recovers from yet another setback.
Or, maybe this is the start of the "Revolution" with Heyman, Lesnar, and Punk. A Lesnar/Punk vs. Rock/Cena main event at Survivor Series could be very interesting.

Some of you need to realize, that in spite of preferring someone as a face or a heel...there's a means of going about things the right way. Punk has consistently been the second most cheered guy over the last year, hell I would argue actually first. He's also moved a lot of merchandise...so man...the balls...the sheer BALLS that WWE has to just say, "well, you've been doing well for us, in fact better than just about anyone else we've had, but I think it's time we made you look like a chump in about 10 minutes time". It just shows their short term goals of making him look like a chickenshit, because we're apparently going to forgive him a year later when he turns face again, right?

It's not like this heel turn is going to push him back down the card, guys. Rock and Austin have both turned heel while main-eventers, and then they turned face again because everyone loves them.
And I'm sure the promos will be awesome. It's Punk, after all.

This just seems weird doing this on the brink of his dvd and being the cover boy for wwe '13, but vince is a mad genius so who knows where this'll lead.

Very good point Exactly, he could easily cut a promo next week putting him as the anti-WWE/hero face or he could become the biggest heel in WWE history, it all depends on next week.
