Miz, a RAW Superstar, just won SmackDown's Intercontinental Championship.
Either this week on SmackDown, or next week on RAW, will we see SmackDown's Daniel Bryan, extremely pissed off over the failed wedding, and being humiliated by CM Punk and The Rock, take out his anger on Santino Marella and squash him to win the United States Championship.
This scenario would allow Bryan to save face after the embarrassment of RAW 1000, and switch the two midcard belts around (even though the brand split doesn't mean anything on TV).

I guess it's possible. Seems more likely he picks a fight with a random midcard guy who embarrasses him and then goes to Charlie Sheen for training to face Bryan at Summerslam.
Who am I kidding, Santino is perfect for that.

So we're assuming there's still a brand split?

I think Damien Sandow will be the one to dethrone Santino Marella of the US Title.

Bryan doesn't need the US title.

You're assuming that Bryan can beat Santino.

Hypothetically, what if the potential Daniel Bryan/Charlie Sheen feud was to lead to a push for someone else.
Bryan dethrones Santino and becomes U.S. Champion. He then cuts a promo mocking Charlie Sheen.
Sheen rebuffs Bryan's claims, and makes a challenge for Summerslam. In true Charlie Sheen fashion, he claims that he can take any "Losing" Superstar, lay his hand on them, and bless them with his Vatican Assassin Warlock powers of "Winning".
Sheen's chosen wrestler is a low-carder: i.e. Alex Riley (he owns a Ricky Vaughn jersey), Tyson Kidd , or even the returning Ted DiBiase (Bryan and Ted have proven chemistry). However, the U.S. Title is not on the line, because Bryan feels that Sheen's chosen wrestler doesn't deserve it.
At Summerslam, Bryan dominates Sheen's chosen wrestler with brutal kicks and submission holds. It's essentially an extended squash match, but Bryan takes too much time to taunt Sheen, which allows the face to get a surprise finisher or roll-up victory.
Sheen is quietly phased out of the feud while the chosen face embarks on a lengthy chase after the United States Championship, ultimately defeating Bryan at Survivor Series.

Dude you really want there to be a brand split don't you?
Things are fine the way they are. WWE's roster is far too weak right now for a successful brand split.
