This is from Gerweck.net:
According to a report by Christopher Lisotta of TV Week, UPN is likely to bring back its male-skewing Friday night professional wrestling.
UPN President of Entertainment Dawn Ostroff made her programming announcements Thursday during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif.
Despite its continued focus on women 18 to 34, negotiations to run "WWE SmackDown!" for next season are happening, Ms. Ostroff said. "We fully intend to have wrestling on our schedule," Ms. Ostroff said.
So it looks like (for now anyway) that SD's contract with UPN will be renewed when it expires in September. It doesn't surprise me since SD has dramatically improved UPN's ratings on Friday nights and is still one of UPN's most popular shows.

Or maybe TNA's moving to network television!
Hey, stop laughing.

Hopefully WWE will shop around and see what they can do about changing networks. I'm not sure how comfortable they are on UPN, but I wouldn't mind seeing them switch to a whole new network. UPN is too soft.

Well I hate to sound like some kind of suspicious geek, but from what I read he said, "there will be wrestling on our schedule". He never specified WWE. And I hope a little hope that he meant TNA.

It would kick ass if they replaced Smackdown with wrestling bears.

Yeah I'd like to see them change since some of us (mainly Des Moines viewers) don't recieve SD and have to settle for the rebroadcast on Sunday nights at 12 am on NBC. I wish that USA would just pick it up so we can just have everything on one network.

If WWE knows that Smackdown is guaranteed to be on the air for at least another couple of years. Maybe they'll stop treating it like the minor leagues.

UPN is too soft. What they really need to do is find a network owned by the same people as USA. That would relieve SD of a LOT of limitations.

I'd rather them stay on UPN because they don't air any sports nationally that would pre-empt Smackdown.

UPN is too soft. Fox maybe? Yeesh, no thanks. I'm afraid that Fox is so leniant with what gets on the air, WWE will begin to think of ludicrous ideas that they never would have thought of otherwise! And if negotiations between WWE and UPN go through: To all of the people who've been hopin' and wishin' and prayin' that Smackdown would go off the air and the brand split will end...sorry.

For fans hoping they drop Smackdown and replace it with TNA...
So you would rather watch Jarrett win the title all the time as opposed to Triple H?

That kind of comparisan doesn't really fit here....
