Ever since CM Punk attacked The Rock last week, there was debate over whether he was heel or not. Many of you advised others to be patient and to wait until his explanation on Monday. Well, Punk came out and explained why he attacked The Rock. And there hasn't been a thread about it.
So what do you all think? Was he justified in attacking The Rock? Is Punk a heel, face or tweener?

He drank his diet soda. It was justified.

Maybe from his character's point of view, it was justified. But I still think he'll end up being a heel.

Still a tweener, IMO. He's going heel no doubt (or at least super snarky and turning a chunk against him with it) but he hasn't attacked the fans or a face other than Rock so he's not there yet. His reasoning in nothing that hasn't been said on here and is the same thing he said last year at this time about wanting respect so it makes perfect sense to me.

He's still definitely a tweener at best right now. Heels rarely if ever attack another heel, while completely ignoring attacking the vulnerable face. And he has yet to try and get any heat by going after the fans. Not to mention his reasons for being upset with the Rock did make a lot of sense, as well as the fact that he is indeed being overshadowed despite being WWE champion.

He thinks the Rock took performance enhancing drugs.

He was justified but I don't trust WWE to book him as a tweener. So heel it is.

If they are smart, they'll continue of Punk being holier than thou. Mention Wrestlmania, how Rock turned for a few shows a year whereas the guys were on the road busting their asses to build a show that the Rock could headline. Mention how much of an ass kiss Dwayne is to Vince McMahon and the WWE universe. He's been overlooked, he shouldn't. The attention should be on the champion etc.

Looks like he still hovering around in tweener mode for now, but his position is very flawed.

Cena has been stealing his spotlight for months, constantly being in the main event despite not even being the WWE champion, but he's never really been brash and in Punk's face about it. Punk shows up on RAW 1000, The Rock interrupts him and proceeds to figuratively tread all over him and spit on his achievements, pretty much making him look worthless despite technically being THE top guy in the WWE.
Punk finally snaps and make sure he gets the last laugh on RAW 1000. It makes perfect sense.

"Because he stole my spotlight! Waaaaaaah".
Looking at my TV and seeing Punk's reasoning made me shake my head.
"He had no business in the same segment as me" Rock was there to talk about the WWE title, and Punk is the champion. Seems logical he would show up when Punk was in the ring.
Also "Mr movie star" beat John Cena clean at Wrestlemania. God damn I want to get behind Punk but his character is so full of bs it's impossible.

God damn I want to get behind Punk but his character is so full of bs it's impossible. Since he's clearly turning heel, that's probably the point. You're not meant to get behind him.

My problem is that Cena was using these exact dumb points when he was facing Rock except now Punk uses them as a heel. They're still dumb either way.

My problem is that Cena was using these exact dumb points when he was facing Rock except now Punk uses them as a heel. They're still dumb either way. At least Cena never demanded respect that Rock didn't owe to him. What, should Rock have just fallen at Punk's feet and worshiped him? In and out of kayfabe, Punk is nowhere near Rock's league. Whatever Punk has done, Rock has done... and has probably done it better. Not to mention the fact that Rock never disrespected him. He came out to deliver his announcement, a title shot he earned by beating the face of the company clean in the main event of the "biggest WrestleMania of all time", something that Punk himself could never do. He ended up getting into a verbal war with Daniel Bryan only because Bryan instigated it, and only showed up in the end to save John Cena, because Cena needed help and Punk decided he didn't want to do anything about it. With Show demolishing Cena, someone had to do something. There are so many logical holes in kayfabe alone that kill Punk's argument and put him in the wrong.

it makes sense from his perspective. I'm just glad he made a point that his beef was with The Rock and no-body else. it's a lot more interesting than him suddenly becoming obnoxious cheap heat heel #1254.

If he'd stuck to that then I would be fine with it, although his logic for attacking Rock was still questionable at best. But he continued through last night by making snide remarks, including at Cena, on the commentary (whilst justified to us, was still heelish) and by declaring that neither Cena or Show would face him at SummerSlam. This of course was changed by AJ, to which he reacted in a total heel manner rather than anything in between.

This and Punk took care of business immediately with Lawler (and Lawler wasn't upset) which is face-y; as a heel he would have clobbered Lawler and make us watch the whole show with just Cole at the table
