So I'm going down to Disney before Memorial Day weekend, and I've been giving myself a nice nostalgia trip on YouTube. See, as a kid my family used to take an annual Disney trip; my parents are high school teachers and could use the trip as a student trip as a reason to bring my little brother and I along for a family vacation. Last time I went with them was five years ago, I helped chaperone the trip.
Question is, which park do you like best, and what about it do you like most?
I was a weird kid: EPCOT was my favorite, and remains my favorite.
There's a lot of easy reasons for that now that I'm grown up: EPCOT has the best food in the resort, the "Beers of the World" tour, has beautiful scenery, the best fireworks show (Illuminations), to compliment some cool rides.
As a kid, though, I was considered weird for liking the "boring" park over the others.
I think the reasons for that were many:
-I was a bit of a geek, and loved how the Future World section emphasized technology and the future. I honestly enjoyed the hands-on learning aspect.
-LOVED (and still love) the background/atmospheric music in the park.
-How the World Showcase part made it like visiting two parks at the same time.
-It felt the most "eighties", and as somebody born in 1985 that vibe appealed to me.
-It was a Disney park that didn't rely on the typical Disney characters and whatnot. The "pavilions" still had the classic Disney vibe, but it felt cool to get that vibe without it coming from the usual characters and movies.
-Universe of Energy has dinosaurs. 'Nuff said.
Also loved the old pavilion logos. I think they started making retro t-shirts of these:
Anyway, love the other parks, too, but EPCOT's simply always been my first choice.
How 'bout any of you other previous WDW "guests"?
