Oddly enough, he seems to have stopped going downhill since Punk called him out. Now he is just falling off a cliff. He was just dire last night. He wears out his jokes so badly.

You know how usually you say you wish a face would go back to being heel? I dunno if lawler would even be good being heel today, it prob would be not funny somehow and lazy like how he is now, just with heels.

To be honest, I always did find it kinda funny how he'd say that, like the time Pete Rose dissed the Boston crowd at Wrestlemania.

Sheamus could stab Jinder for no reason and Lawler would justify it "Pshh....he is only bleeding a little Cole. He only needs a bandaid and he'll be fine"

The annoying thing for me? During the main event, when the "Let's go Cena/Cena Sucks" chants were going, Lawler (and Cole), deliberately said they were chanting something else (Oompa Loompa etc) when it was obvious they WEREN'T.

It makes no sense, even Cena plays up to the chants by turning his head to a different section of the crowd for each chant...

Michael Cole is awful with his TOUT! and TRENDING! and TWITTER!!! I know it's not his fault that he has to do that but the two of them would ruin a solid 2 hour show let alone a recap laden 3 hour repeat of the last 5 months.

As long as the average fan and (most importantly) the higher-ups in the office think he's doing a good job he's there until he retires.
I did a quick check of the opinions of my friends who I consider "average" fans, they all love Lawler and think he's one of the highlights of the show.

I'd wager to guess that if you polled fans at a house show or TV taping, like 8 out of 10 would say Jerry does a great job. My friends who are wrestling fans (but don't go online to boards or NEWZ sites) still seem to love him.

Do the higher-ups think he's doing a good job, though? Punk has laid into him for 2 weeks. It's the kind of thing that makes one wonder if they're sending a message to Lawler.

Why was he in agreement over Sheamus stealing and "damaging" ADR's car? It wasn't funny in the least and Michael Cole was actually right about what Sheamus was doing to ADR's car. He did say some non-PG things last night though.

I think the reason Punk's laying into him is to help turn the fans on Punk -- because Lawler is such a beloved figure with the great majority of WWE's audience. From what I've heard, Lawler just says what they want him to. Like they give him bullet points and he goes from there. But he doesn't watch shows he's not on, and Vince can't yell into his earpiece. If they do anything to upset him, I'm pretty sure Lawler has let it be known that he'll leave like he did when they canned The Kat years ago.

Dont even go there. An asseating joke on a pg show is offensive. I may not be offended by it, but its still very offensive. Even moreso than a rape joke. I don't normally do this but... REALLY? I'm sure you'd still agree if AW made the ass joke about Rosa and King made the rape joke. Yes really. A.W. made a rape joke based on pop culture. King made a possible rape joke about himself and a co-worker. Another difference is that the Kobe Bryant joke most likely went WAY over the heads of the target audience, meanwhile King straight up insinuated oral sex. Both were stupid throwaway lines, but the problem i have is that A.W. had to apologize while King gets away with stupid throwaway lines almost every week. A.W. is probably two messed up jokes from the chopping block, while King is viewed as a legend who can do no wrong because of his spot on the totem pole.

Between the fat jokes at Vickie when she's clearly not fat anymore to his dumb justification for faces he's just completely lost it. Everything from his arrival to the company until he left in 2001 was pretty gold. Every since he came back though he's been coasting along. They need to get rid of him and give someone else the spot but like someone said that won't happen for a really long time. To be honest I've always found him grossly overrated as an announcer, and nowhere near "gold". He was a raging hormonal moron in the Attitude Era and much of the same stuff we hate about him now was going on then (Kelly Kelly? Seriously? He was MUCH worse back then about that kind of stuff) Either way I want him gone, and dearly wish Heyman could replace him, who I consider second to Ventura and on a tier with Heenan in the color commentator hierarchy. Heyman...now THAT MAN was gold.

Cole: "But King, I think he stabbed him in his kidney." King: "So what, he's got another one." Cole: King, he has no pulse! King: So! He's still breathing. Cole: How can you condone Sheamus stabbing another wrestler? King: He didn't stab him , the knife slipped.
