Who in your opinion, past or present, was or is underrated on the mic? Personally, I think that the late Dr. Death Steve Williams was pretty decent and so was Jimmy Garvin.

In terms of the sands of time not giving him his proper due, The Crusher has to be TOp 10 of all time:

I think Bret Hart actually improved a pretty good deal over time but has definitely regressed

Jimmy Garvin in World Class as "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin is definitely underrated. Once he went to WCW for the Fabulous Freebirds run, I thought he was too much like Hayes but not as good.
I think "Playboy" Gary Hart doesn't get mentioned enough.

He'd would be my first choice also. Funny how WCW could do more with him than Vince did. Highly underrated talent.

Matt Morgan is solid gold on the microphone, that is when they aren't saddling him with a stuttering gimmick.

Honestly, I always thought Chris Benoit was half decent on the stick. He was never going to rattle off catchphrases or cut a genuinely great promo, but he showed on a few occasions that he was more than capable of holding his own, yet he's on the receiving end of a huge amount of criticism for his supposed lack of charisma and talking ability.

Agreed, his worst promos were when they tried to give him a catchphrase, he couldn't do those. But get him to say how he'll kick a guy's ass, and he was pretty damn good, like in his promo where he almost breaks Heyman's finger.

A favorite promo of mine was on the 10-23-2000 episode of RAW where he talks about talent being secondary to showmanship in the WWF. Hell, his dickhole character was spot on in 2000, probably his best year.

I think Rob Van Dam is seriously underrated on the mic, especially in ECW. His mic work there with Sabu playing straight man was hysterical. RVD was best as the ultra cocky stoner character, but in WWE he was always given either scripted promos that were ill suited to him, or angry "I am going to kick your ass!" that were totally against his strengths. Probably a better heel promo than a fiery babyface.
