WWE Star BLASTS Nike for Signing Jon Jones .... He's a BAD Role Model WWE superstar C.M. Punk is furious with Nike ... claiming the sportswear giant is sending a HORRIBLE message to kids by signing UFC champ Jon "Bones" Jones ... who happens to be a convicted drunk driver. FYI -- Nike announced it signed Jones to a MAJOR global endorsement deal yesterday ... a deal likely worth millions of dollars. But moments after the announcement ... WWE champ C.M. Punk unloaded on The Swoosh ... saying, "Let's reward more drunk drivers with endorsement deals! #responsibility." Punk -- who doesn't drink or smoke -- is referring to Jon's DUI conviction, stemming from a May 19 incident in which Jones drunkenly crashed his Bentley into a utility pole. Jones apologized for the incident ... and after cutting a deal with prosecutors, his driver's license was suspended for 6 months. So far, no comment from either Jones or Nike. www.tmz.com/2012/08/09/wwe-star-blasts-nike-signing-bones-jones-is-wrong-hes-a-bad-role-model/

I get the feeling that a lot of people aren't going to agree with him, but I do. I know that in this day and age, all that really matters to sponsors is your ability. I suppose there's a limit on what bad things you can do, but as long as you're really good, you'll get your deal. I've come to accept that, but I'm glad Punk hasn't.

Punk always slams drunk drivers in some public fashion. He did it to Alex Riley on TV once.

Shut the hell up Punk, and start preaching this BS to 80% of your locker room, seeing on how DUI's have basically become a rights of passage in the WWE. I dont care for Jon Jones, but come on..

No disagreement from me. My raw opinion of people who drive drunk would probably get me banned from here. Assholes.

can't say I disagree. ever since the accident we had here a few years back with some drunk asshole plowing over 3 teenagers (they all died) I have a VERY low opinion of drunk drivers.

I'm just happy Jones got his license banned. Hopefully, he never does it again.
Having met the guy, he really is cool, but drunk driving just isn't excusable.
So I have no problem with what Punk said, and I don't think Jones should either. It is what it is.

Who says he doesn't? He mocked Reilly over it. Mocking one thing, but putting forth an initiative that can seriously penalize these superstars for doing such an idiotic act would be more helpful, than looking like a jackass in this manner. Add on top of that, that WWE is supposed to be "family friendly" it looks worse for superstars paraded on tv to be in those situations, then some herb who fights every now and then. Drunk driving is wrong by all accounts, but dont throw rocks if your own house aint in order, know what i mean??

So people who have a DUI on their record do not deserve to get paid well in life?
Get off your high horse, Punk.

He criticized one guy on one incident, and all of a sudden you get all mad because he hasn't forced WWE to change their policies on how they handle DUIs? Anyway, look at the people who got DUIs recently...all I can think of is Jimmy Uso and Alex Riley. Neither of them ever get on TV, let alone win (save for A-Ri getting his first Raw win in over a year last week). It's just like the people who got pissed when CM Punk criticized Chris Brown for beating women and said "well Austin beat his wife and CM Punk didn't say anything about that"...how does that possibly make sense, how is that a point to be made? Must he mention everyone who'd done the thing he's complaining about, just to make a statement about one situation? It's twitter, not some drawn out blog where he's really marinating on a subject.

He referenced it on his own Twitter account; he didn't say that Jones should die or anything, just giving his opinion on the matter.

Like I said, be willing to s*** in your own house if you're willing to fling it for no reason. Don't forget FCW cats like Mr Rotunda who caught the same charge, but then again this is the company that has the owner sayinf N bombs live, live sex celebrations, and such, so I guess a little social responsibility on their part is too much to ask.
