Jirard and Greg, at the whim of the live streaming fans, wanted us to play Resident Evil The remake. So here you go!

A fantastic game, and a textbook example on how to do a remake right. It saved all of the best elements of the original (the tense, scary atmosphere, the basic overall pacing and puzzles, etc.), improved on the problems of the old version (fixing up the dorky dialogue, creating new puzzles that make more sense than the original, an even darker atmosphere that adds to the purpose of making it scary), and even some new stuff all on its own (tying the story into the main series, expanding on the backstory of the setting, and keeping the players on their toes with all new setups (you were expecting the dog to come through the window in the hallway early on? Nope!) and all new elements like the Crimson Heads).
I got a GameCube just so I could play this game, as a huge Resident Evil fan, and I wasn't dissapointed at all. Probably THE definitive Resident Evil game.

I like this game, but I wish it had the original dialogue. It gave it a B-movie feel that wasn't intentional, but totally effective.

Am I wrong, or does this game not support progressive scan? On a whim I popped it in recently and was absolutely stunned by how horrible it looked, even by last gen standards.

For me whether or not I like a Resident Evil game comes down to one thing.
Is it RE4?
If you've answered yes, I like it. If you've answered no, screw it.
I remember all my friends in school LOVING the RE games, and yet whenever I played the N64 version of 2 I thought it was trash. I just could not get around the controls. I'm sure some could, but I never could.

Screw 4, 5 and the others like those, this is the RE I love and want more of.
