I wonder if your dad was anything like my dad when Reggie made that incredible shot on Jordan back in 1998. Even I flipped the f*** out on that. Of course, they still lost the series, but man...it made you believe.

The Thunder/Mavs series was the first time the Thunder have been involved in a sweep. Their first playoff series against the Lakers went 6 games, their first round series against the Nuggets went 5 games, their second round series against the Grizzlies went 7 games, and their WCF series with the Mavs last year went 5 games.

the biggest reason for Deron to stay a Net (besides the money) is that with a couple of moves, and not even major moves, they can position themselves on top of the most winnable division in the NBA for the forseeable future. I firmly disagree with the notion that the Nets, be they of New Jersey or Brooklyn, are anywhere near approaching the top of the Atlantic Division. I do, however, agree with the belief that the Atlantic Division is the weakest division in the NBA. The Celtics still have Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce and plenty of cap space to play with after Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett's contracts expire. Danny Ainge has proven that he is capable of making the right moves to maneuver the Celtics to the top of the division after the Big Three era comes to an end this July. However, the Knicks still have a solid nucleus of Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandley, Iman Shumpert, Amare Stoudemire if his body stops outright betraying him and possibly Jeremy Lin, if he can prove to be anything other than a one-month wonder, which, in my opinion, he will not. The 76ers still have tons of young talent, they just need to find a way to harness it all and reign it in for the duration of an 82-game season and not crap out after the All-Star break. The Raptors...well, the Raptors suck. But the Nets' future is just as bleak as Toronto's, it only appears that the Nets are in better shape because they have a crazy Russian billionaire for an owner, they're moving to a new arena in Brooklyn and Jay-Z owns one percent of the franchise. The roster still sucks. Aside from Deron Williams, who are their three best players? Kris Humphries, Brook Lopez and MarShon Brooks? The Nets are still a long ways away from anything resembling a contender and that's if Williams stays. If he hightails it to Dallas, the Nets are looking at the lottery for the foreseeable future.

Unrelated to the playoffs, I just watched the shorted CNBC version of Sonicsgate.
It's not as good as the original, as the network cut out the team's history and all negative speech from the filmmakers (at least when it came to Bennett and Stern). I still felt gutted though. This film still shows that sometimes the bad guys win.
As a New Yorker, I feel for the Seattle fans.

Deng has to stop these 76ers offensive rebounds quick.

This film still shows that sometimes the bad guys win. As a New Yorker, I feel for the Seattle fans. I don't know if I can express how ridiculous and stupid I find that movie, and yes, I'm an OKC fan who is psyched to finally have a hometown team in the sport I have been a huge fan of since the time I could walk, but it goes beyond that. The city didn't support the team. They had several chances, more than one attempt at getting a new arena was made. They turned it down every time. Even when doing so would lead to a huge payday for the city via Bennett, they refused to support a new deal. And they pick that moment to try to make it a huge war against the culture of sports and the reality that owners push the costs of new stadiums on cities (a side they only took after agreeing to new arenas for their other teams). Despite the pandering and spin, Seattle wasn't the first time, nor was it the worst situation to have a team leave, and they won't be the last. They just have played the victim card so much better, trying to cover up the fact that it's the city itself that didn't want to do what it would take to keep the city there despite every single piece of evidence supporting the fact that that's what they would have to do. They had an ego about it, they thought they were above the business, that history wouldn't repeat itself there even when it happened to the bigger cities of New York and LA, they thought surely their team wouldn't move, but lo and behold, they repeatedly refused to to do what owners and the league said it would take to do, and the team left. And after hearing some of the garbage that came from Seattle fans after the move, I don't feel bad for them anymore. There were good fans, and yes, it sucks if they were willing to support the team only to find all the people who wouldn't caused the team to be moved, but that's what you get when your city wants to suddenly become too good to do what every other city does. And if the fans who still go to Portland/Thunder games with "Save our Sonics" signs want someone to blame, that blame should fall solely on Howard Schultz, who ran the team into the ground.

There's a laundry list of people to blame.
I'm saddened for the fans, not for the city.

[edit] And yes, I realize that's me painting all the old Sonics fans the same just because a few loudmouths have no grip on reality or concept of perspective, but being in OKC, I've heard this crap so often that it's hard to care about that anymore.

Deron Williams has every reason in the world to come to Dallas and pretty much none outside of a little bit more money to stay in New Jersey or Brooklyn or wherever.
The Nets suck now, the Nets will suck for the next several years and no new building or city is going to change that. Everyone shits on Mark Cuban, but there's not an owner in the league that cares more about his team then he does. You don't see him off trying to be the President of Russia or whatever the f*** whats his name is doing.
Pay attention to your team, and actually do some of the things you claim your gonna do and maybe somebody will think your something more then some Russian goof with an NBA team as a side hobby.
So far all he's done is trade away the teams immediate future for a guy that's likely on the next plane out of town.

I don't really disagree with any of this, although your hopes for New York's and Philadelphia's ceilings are quite a bit higher than mine. the Nets are bad, but it wouldn't take much tweaking for them to be a team that could win that terrible division is all I'm saying. I'm also pretty sure that the prevailing notion that a lot of people have that says "Deron Williams will play for Dallas because he's from Texas" is worth almost nothing.

The thing with the Nets is that they always talk up getting these star players to come play for them and it never pans out. Ever. Outside of Deron Williams, they haven't had any true stars come to the team since Vince Carter and Jason Kidd made them a force in the early 00's.

^ totally valid point. Can't believe that guy still works in an NBA front office.
and as a memo to the guy behind Hubie and Tirico: you're like 48 years old, put a t shirt on underneath your jersey, you're creeping me out.

So the Bulls are pretty much toast, right? Noah seems to be done for the rest of the series, Hamilton/Deng have been mostly disappointing, and the Watson/Lucas duo just isn't getting it done.

The funny thing about the Sixers is that they would've gotten demolished by a healthy Bulls team. But considering that their defense is top 5 in the league this year & the Hawks & Celtics are pretty banged up, they have a legitimate shot at making it to the Conference Finals IMO.

I truly thought this could be the year for Chicago. Now it looks like they won't make it out of the first round.
Rose should get some extra MVP votes just for this (not win...just get extra votes).
