I was watching Freaky Friday on ABC Family, when Lindsay Lohan's character (the mother in the daughter's body) made a passing reference about her and her daughter being considered crazy if they told anyone what happened to them and how they'd be put on a Thorazine drip. Interestingly enough, they bleeped Thorazine. Now, clearly I haven't been watching too much ABC Family, but since when did they start bleeping the names of anti-psychotic medications and for what reason? Hard drugs I can understand (and even some drug references I'm certain are allowed on the channel, since they show those teenage shows), even sexual descriptors, but Thorazine?
A little much, ABC Family. A little much.

One of the more confusing censorships was in the new Longest Yard.
The Line, "I think I made him shit himself" was changed to I think "I think he broke his frikkin neck"
The reaction is treated the same, and it's more than a little creepy with the new implications.

From The Goonies, when Chunk had called the police about the Fratelli Brothers holding the kids hostage:
"Yeah, like when you told us about the 30 Palestinian terrorists who took over all the Sizzlers in town?"
They ended up bleeping out "Palestinian" (or it might have been "Arab").

I've noticed on reruns of Fraiser on WE and the Hallmark channel they cut out ass and bitch. The later I can sort of understand though.

When Transformers: Beast Wars first aired in Canada the network it was shown on (YTV) forced them to change the name to "Beasties" because I guess they thought the word "Wars" was too intense for the target audience, never mind the fact the toy line was still called Beast Wars up here and there were several mention of the Beast Wars through out the course of the series.

That confused the hell out of me when I was a kid, I didn't find out that "Beasties" was a YTV only thing until about ten years later.

Isn't that being changed back for the Blu-Ray? Supposedly the blu-ray is going to be the original 1982 version of E.T.I don't think Spielberg has said whether or not the 2002 disaster is going to be included...so I guess the answer to your question is yes. ;D

Our lovely local radio station censored "underwear" from an Eminem song. I s*** you not. Oh...well played FAN censors. Well played indeed.

what about the whole Angry Beavers controversy where Nickelodeon censored Norbit saying "Shut up" because there were complaints it sounds like he was saying "Shit up"

Back in 1999 or 2000, when "Back To The Future Part II" aired on USA/Sci-Fi, they edited out "Butthead." Why? Butt-head is not that bad of a word. The censorship in Part III when Needles says "How's it hanging McFly?" to "How's it happening, McFly?" is understandable because we all know what it means when something is "hanging."
Also, when reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger" were still around, a few episodes omitted the use of "Son of a bitch" and this was on USA when it aired. I can understand Hallmark censoring a few episodes, like in the episode "A Matter of Principle," there was a scene when Trivette and Sydney went to a strip club to go get this girl who was connected to one of the bad guys. SHe didn't wear anything that revealing, just a bra and some boyshorts. Of course, it was Hallmark, a more family-oriented channel and there were some episodes that they never showed.

One of the dumbest I have seen on my trips to the U.S was when I happened across Die Hard With A Vengeance on cable.
They changed McClane's sign to "I Hate Everyone". I can understand why they may have had to censor it but couldn't it just have been blurred out?

On an early episode of Beavis and Butt Head when they were watching the video for Digital Underground's Humpty Dance the mention of Burger King was muted out.
I'm guessing it was some kind of sponsor thing, although they did make a bit out of it as Beavis and Butt Head thought a swear word was being muted out.
