I often read the "Bitter Script Reader" blog and today he brought up the question posed in this poll. Failed Pilots and ITunes. Instead of just dumping a failed effort, could some or all be put on ITunes for $1.99 so that those curious could help recover some of the cost? His example being the failed "Wonder Woman" pilot that ended up leaking out and getting pirated like crazy from overly curious comic book fans. So, would you be up for buying a failed pilot to see why it wasn't good enough, or if it was good enough and studios were stupid? Or would you feel having them available would be insulting to those involved who may want it to disappear instead of the failure being bantered about for only a small recovery of the price.

That's actually a pretty cool idea. Especially for 1.99. Could even lead to one of the pilots getting a small cult following and a network deciding to pick it up after all.

Probably not. I'd either feel like yeah that sucked why did I waste 2 dollars on it or I would be annoyed that this show that I liked will never see the light of day again.

if it were something that was originally shot as a TV movie with the possibility of it being made into a TV show(ie: BSG), then yeah, maybe, if it were an interesting/compelling concept. If, however, it were a 30-60 minute show filmed like standard TV show, then probably not. All it would be essentially would be exposition and character introduction with little to no plot(or in the case of a show with little-to-no continuing narrative, little to no character development/changing dynamics). It would be like reading only the first chapter of a novel, or watching only the opening scene of a film. At best, it would be so compelling that you'd want more, with no chance of delivering on that, and at worst, it would be incredibly dull, or as tone said before me(sorry, didn't read the whole thread before posting ) : Probably not. I'd either feel like yeah that sucked why did I waste 2 dollars on it or I would be annoyed that this show that I liked will never see the light of day again.

They'd be better off dumping it on youtube.

I already bought a failed pilot off iTunes. And Aquaman was awesome.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Generation X TV movie again.
Though, for some reason, I'd rather own it on DVD.
