The Donkey Kong Country series is undoubtedly some of the best games on the SNES, so I was wondering which one all of you liked the most.
(Oh, and by the way: Diddy's Kong Quest=Diddy's Conquest)

Donkey Kong Country 2 is my favorite game of all time. It is exactly what 2-D platforming should be.

On a technical sense, I don't think they did at all. In fact, the factory and sewer levels look awesome.
However, I think the other areas just aren't as interesting as some of the stuff in DKC2, and it just shows.

Does anyone think the graphics took a dip in quality on the 3rd game ? To me they dont look as good as the first two. Absolutely not. They actually looked way better in some levels, especially the water levels and the woods. The problem to me was that the environments weren't as innovative as the first two games, in fact they were reissued from the others. I guess the water world was slightly new as was the mountains, but it wasn't AS unique to look at as the other ones. It did give us the overworld which I prefer immensely to the other games. It's very difficult for me to choose because each game does bring something to the table. I'm going to go with the original because it was the first SNES game I owned and this was back when I sucked majorly at games, so I didn't get very far. Mine Cart Madness gave me nightmares, I can still play the theme in my head and I'll know exactly where I am in the level.

I rank them like this:
DKC2 DKC Returns DKC1 DKC3
The problem with the third game was that Rare was clearly running out of ideas by that point. A lot of the level designs were uninspired and overly reliant on gimmicks. It's still a solid platformer with some good ideas (I love the hollow tree levels, for example), but it fell short of expectations.
