the driving really is slick as all get out. It just does what you want it to do, you feel in control.

So, just got the new issue of Game Informer and they gave it a 7.75, with their only complaint being bugs, which I haven't heard much of yet from anyone else.
And if you consider him a reviewer, Angry Joe gave it a 6/10, saying he liked it but it's not very memorable, though I imagine that score is a bit of a lowball.
Whatever, I plan on getting it anyway.

GI tends to low ball a lot of the games I really love, if they give it a 7.5 to me that is better than it getting a 9 or 10. As for Angry Joe, his opinions I respect not.

I want this game, but like so many other games, it is part of my Christmas wishlist.
I would've got it this week had Best Buy not dropped that awesome sale on us, but I gotta prioritize. On one hand, one pretty kickass looking game for $60 or 6 kickass games I've wanted to play but haven't yet, also for $60?
Sadly Sleeping Dogs loses out on that deal. With my luck it'll be at least $40 by the time Black Friday rolls around, anyways.

Best Buy had exactly none of what I wanted. I picked up a move gun shell for $5 that was all. To add to my crappity time, Gamestop didn't get in the Last Story so I have to go back out there. And I am pretty sure the clerk I used to shoot the breeze with got hit in the head as he seemed to not recognize me at all, nor did he seem to be able to look straight ahead any longer.

It is more like GTA in concept, more like Yakuza in approach if that makes any sense. It owes more overall to GTA, but the gunplay, driving, and fighting are all miles above and beyond any GTA game. The driving feels a ton like an arcade racing game in fact.

If everyone waits for a price drop, then they'll consider the game a failure. But yeah, just got Rayman Origins for $5 at one Best Buy (after using a coupon) and will probably check out the other Best Buy in town now that I got paid to see if anything's left. There's nothing major I want but I think I might pick up some Microsoft points since all the Saints Row 3 mission DLC is half off this week. On the review front, Game Trailers gave it an 8.3

No one ever in the history of video games has had a normal, calm, nice wedding.
(Meryl's doesn't count, because she married Johnny. Eugh.)
I love this game, but I do have a question. During combat, does the Face Meter do anything? When it starts to glow or blink? I feel like I missed a tutorial or something on it and thus I don't know what to do when it's trying to tell me something. Or is it just that you're leveling up?

The face meter makes you more powerful gives you special attacks and refills your health, it is handy as all get out.

I just caught tonight that I need to do all those stupid favors to level that thing up, because I want to wear the "Mr. Black" suit and can't yet xD oh well, at least most of the favors are kinda fun. Incentive to play them.

Ok, update. I am 50% done over all with the game. I love the story, if you are a fan of HK cinema you will dig it. People who haven't watched much HK or watch it all with English dubs probably wont connect with it. It doesn't have much in the way of western sensibilities as far as story telling, character building and story arcs.
Also, anyone talking about how the name doesn't fit, isn't paying attention to the overall arc and theme.
Last up, the racing is FUN! I always dread racing in open world games and avoid them. In this game I hunt them down. Instead of making the game and going "hey, races will pad it out!" they went in designing the city with racing and driving lines in mind, so it works very well. A great bonus to it all is that I have maxed my Face level from those races. SO I have all those benefits very early on.

Finished the story mode. Damn, man...
Wish it wasn't over already, I usually dilly-dally about finishing a game, but not this one.
Still gonna finish the races, drug busts, etc, and finally had enough to buy my Wangan GSX (aka the Totally Not a Nissan GT-R...but it is a Nissan GT-R) from Kennedy Dockyards.
As a fan of Saints and GTA alike, they should definitely take notes about this combat system. And some aspects of the driving too. Because this game basically just walked right into their house with dirty shoes. And I love it.

Why are they sleeping?" The thing is, that's the kind of title an HK movie would have. Since you're basically playing an HK movie, it works.

I got this on release day and I am really digging it! Even the racing, as others have mentioned, is FUN. I normally dislike open-world side missions and races (Still have to do them in GTA IV) but even losing multiple times yesterday I want to go back and do them.

The phrase "Let sleeping dogs lie", Wei Shen is both thrust into a world full of "dogs" or gangsters, constantly having to keep up a lie that he is one of them, and whenever he tries to sleep he doesn't truly rest so much as experience a rush of guilt/remorse/perhaps fear of what he's done before he hit the sack. The phrase's meaning being more or less "Don't further muddle something if it will only complicate things" also kinda hits the nail on the head.

Just finished the main story.
I don't know about you guys, but even though I don't watch much HK cinema, I found this an extremely fun game to play, and far more entertaining than its "American" rivals Saints' Row and GTA. The gameplay is fine and I have no complaints about it, the voice acting was good, the atmosphere is fantastic, the soundtrack was enjoyable. I guess the only thing I can ask for would be more side missions, but that'll probably be addressed in the near future with some DLC or something.
I have no idea why there's not more press around it. You'd think with Square Enix at the helm they'd try to make a big deal about it, because I think as a franchise, it's a knockout to similar series.

Purchased this earlier today for PS3. I've only played the first handful of missions so far. The in game mechanics work great (driving, running, fighting) compared to similar games. The in game universe looks to have a lot of depth, walking around the market place at the start of the game gives the impression that a lot is happening and the NPC's are actually doing stuff. As opposed to other similar games where they create a big city and then just have NPC's walking around doing nothing. However there are a few problems, though they may be because of my TV, I'll test it on another TV later. Everything is too dark, I can't see where I'm going half the time. I put the game on the highest brightness and it was still too dark. Also the text is way too small and I keep missing information, like how you bump cars off the road while driving by hitting square. Again, these are probably issues with my TV rather than the game itself. Also, quicktime events. Why Square-Enix Why?
Besides those few things it's a fun game. I'm enjoying it so far.
