Did no one else notice Piper shouting "Y2K! Y2K!" after Jericho cleaned house and Jericho had to tell him it wasY2J. Seriously... What was piper on last night? I did and I also notice Ziggler corpse because of it and Jericho straight up laughed. Piper looked weird and seemed out of it at points. "no, no no......NOOOOOOOO!" It was like Daniel after the dentist only it was me who asked if it was gonna last forever

Him screaming no at the mic when Ziggler was legit trying to make him shut up was like a child. It was a bit weird.

It amazes me that he got to have another Piper's Pit after the Madison Square Garden incident. The man just can't do it anymore.

Piper's been awful for years. Never found him entertaining and could never understand why, after his overly-long, boring appearances you got people praising Piper. He was just a rambling, boring old fool.

He was just a rambling, boring old fool. I'd say he's been off-and-on. He was really good in his Piper's Pit with Cena prior to the Survivor Series match where Cena was special referee for Orton and Barrett. He was also good with Cena last year, I believe it was some time before Survivor Series. Piper was addressing how many in the crowd booed him.

Roddy is great when he's part of a bigger picture (Wade Barret TM) and adds more when it's a main event feud. Pointless fluff and mid card matches just aren't something he can help contribute to.

It was a bit of a trainwreck but that's why I loved it Yeah same. Remember Jericho even fluffed some lines too if I remember rightly. Dolph and Miz managed to save it thankfully. Piper is still useful, he's never been a huge favourite of mine but used correctly he is still an asset. His stuff with Cena should show you that.

Perhaps the Bigger Picture [© Wade Barret, 2010] we should take from this is that when they bring in Roddy, they need to have a more structured, focused segment where Roddy knows exactly what points he needs to get across and where the segment needs to go. I believe in the 1980s and 1990s, Roddy was left to his own devices and could take the segments where he wanted to. I don't think Roddy can do this today.

The fact that that is not always the plan whenever they bring anyone in to do anything is eye-rolling.

I always think it's neat when they bring guys like Piper, Hacksaw Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter back on TV. It's good for the younger audience to recognize the guys who helped paved the way for today's talent.

As I said in the thread that disappeared, it was only 3 years ago that he cut that AWESOME "old school's cool" promo.
Now each time he turns up, it seems like he's really trying to remember the angle he is talking about.
"Ziggler is Mr Money In The Bank...wait...Jericho can't win the big one...wait...Miz was in a movie...wait...Y2J...Y2J...wait...so...Y2J"
Its sad, because the guy is, and aways will be, one of my all time favourites. But seeing him go out there and try to ad-lib horribly is almost uncomfortable to watch for me.

I just hope you guys remember this whenever you get the urge to rail against scripted promos.
Ad-libbing on a live show is bush-league.

I just hope you guys remember this whenever you get the urge to rail against scripted promos. Ad-libbing on a live show is bush-league. Ad-libbing on a live show is fine if you can pull it off. Piper just clearly can't anymore. Different people need different levels of scripting.

Piper yelling NO while Miz was trying to take the mic sounded like an old man trying to keep the remote control in the retirement home because Matlock was about to come on. lol
