It's out this Friday so let's talk about MEN: THE MOVIES. I predict EXPLOSIONS and MEN STUFF! There will be screaming and action and one liners and OMGWTJUSTHAPPENED EXPLOIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS! If this movies script is less than 90% cheesy one liners then i will be disappointed.

Disappointed with the first one but from what I've read from a few early reviews this one seems to be an improvement in every aspect. Really looking forward to Sly/Van Damme clash for the first time.

I've been and seen it today. It's remarkably short, and it drags in places, but the opening ten minutes and the last half an hour are so action packed you'll barely get chance to breathe. Stallone is good, and there are scene stealing moments for Schwarzenegger, Willis and Norris. Van Damme is actually quite a good villain, and may well have found himself a new niche as a bad guy.
One thing I didn't like though, one of the Expendables is replaced midway through the movie, seemingly just to change the gender of that particularly specialist on the team. It wouldn't have made any difference to keep the original character, because the replacement is quite a poor actor.
Special mention though to Dolph Lundgren, who you're never quite sure is brilliantly clever and playing dumb, or really is dumb and occasionally has a great idea.

So I just got back from a midnight screening and, as it turns out, it's the greatest motion picture ever made.
Slight hyperbole, perhaps, but it's the best action film you'll see this summer. All tenderloin, no filler. If shit isn't blowing up, it's the characters just hanging out and being hilarious dudes.
An excellent watch.

Great homage to 80's action movies. I took my dad to it for his 43rd birthday and I think it made his 43rd memorable.

I was on the fence about it beause I heard Chuck Norris' involvement meant it couldnt be Rated R but it is R anyways.
So I may catch it soon I already plan on watching the 1st again to get caught up.

Van Damme was an excellent bad guy and really enjoyed Schwarzenegger, Willis and particularly Norris sending themselves up something fierce. If I have one complaint? Needed a touch more Jet Li.

Norris's first involvement was hilarious, he even cracked a Chuck Norris joke.
Willis and Arnie in the car was also f***ing fantastic.

Great homage to 80's action movies. I took my dad to it for his 43rd birthday and I think it made his 43rd memorable. I went to see it with my mom for her birthday, along with my dad and brother. It was a fun movie. Watching it in a packed theater with others was great, lots of enthusiasm, surprised at the young audience there. Chuck Norris scenes seemed to be really popular.

Saw it yesterday and it was a fun movie just like the first one. I agree we needed more Jet Li but I was happy to see the rest of the team have more than 2 lines of dialogue this go around. I'm not a huge MMA mark, but I think the next film should have Chuck Liddell in a smaller bad guy role and have him get his come comeuppance from Couture. {Spoiler}I can't believe I didn't see Hemsworth's death coming! I was talking to my brother and he said he saw it a mile away because the character had a girlfriend, a rough background, and had a month left on the team. so cliche. But that's what I LOVE about these movies ;D

But that's what I LOVE about these movies ;D {Spoiler}I so saw that coming. They pretty much built him up as the likable young guy with a bright future ahead of him and when he wanted to retire with one last day left, told his stories, showed he had a girlfriend, was an extremely good/nice person and was part of the military, added on that he was the 'attractive guy' of the bunch had me feeling that he wasn't going to live through the entire movie.
The part that sealed it was when Stallone told the kid to go on ahead first. I just knew when he was going on his own and at the front that he was going to get captured and killed.

I enjoyed it for the most part, as I'm willing to accept most of the crappy acting for what it is and just enjoy the action scenes, but holy crap was Arnold offputting. I'm not sure whether it's how fake he looks these days (like the male version of Joan Rivers), or the over the top meta lines, but I could have done without him.

Man, it looked like Stallone was in physical pain every time he delivered a line. It was like a weird mix of both great and terrible acting. Perfect for this type of film.
So who do we want to see in the third one? Seagal? Is he the only big name left to get?
