Aside from most of this thread, the only one I can think of is Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat movie. What I find funny is that he'd later become Heihachi in the Tekken movie.

All casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all casting in the Harry Potter series I thought the girl who played Ginny Weasly was terrible. It seemed like she didn't show any emotion at all in some scenes.

All casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Well, let's not be too generous. Their casting of Black Widow really sucks. I thought we liked Johansen Widow? The first Rhodey kind of sucked.

What about adapted from real life? Because Daniel Day Lewis as Abe might be a contender He's got the look, but when I think "DDL in a 19th Century period piece" I just assume there's going to be a lot of brutal murders. I'll be expecting him to bash John Wilkes Boothe's head in after no-selling the gunshot at the end of this one.

Whether it be TV show to movie, cartoon to movie, book to movie etc. For me the best two are Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn and Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. When I watched them it was like actually seeing the characters come to life. They completely nailed it. They were perfect. And ironically neither was the first choice. I believe Stuart Townsend was originally cast as Aragorn (was replaced for being too young), and Tim Roth was the preferred choice for Snape (he turned it down to do "Planet of the Apes")

She's plenty hot enough, but she doesn't have the necessary badass presence, and the lack of accent kills it. I also hated how she held and fired her guns like she was afraid of them.

I thought Tobey McGuire was perfect as Peter Parker. I know a lot of people hate him in the role though.
This will probably never happen in a trillion years but I think Daniel Day-Lewis would make the perfect Roland (from The Dark Tower series).
Morgan Freeman as Red in Shawshank. They changed his race for the film but I thought he was perfect in the part.

All casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all casting in the Harry Potter series I dunno, I thought Rupert Grint was awful as Ron with his constant overacting. I wasn't a fan of Radcliffe as Harry either, he just seemed too bland and wooden.

The Actress for Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, the girl was a killer in that role.If i`m not mistaken, even the own creator of Harry Potte said she was perfect for the role.
Stephen Stills and Ramona from Scott Pilgrim, they nailed it.
The guy who played Eddie Gordo for tekken was good too,not sure if perfect, but as fighting games movies go,that one was pretty good.

I thought we liked Johansen Widow? The first Rhodey kind of sucked. She's plenty hot enough, but she doesn't have the necessary badass presence, and the lack of accent kills it. I also hated how she held and fired her guns like she was afraid of them. Well, who would have been better? There are some well-known actresses that speak Russian. Granted, Michelle Trachtenberg and Mila Kunis are both a little too young for the role and Milla Jovovich is really too much of a waif to believably pull of the martial arts part of the role (despite her roles of the last few years trying to convince you otherwise). I suppose that Margarita Levieva could do a lot of the flipping around even without wires (she was a competitive gymnast in her youth), but she is a little tiny still. Maybe instead they should have tried to get an actress who looks believable as an ass-kicker and get them to use a better accent. Katee Sackhoff may be as short as Margarita Levieva but she looked more believable as an ass-kicker in BSG and Bionic Woman. My preferred pick? I would have tried to hire Hillary Swank. She looked believable as an ass-kicker in Million Dollar Baby and she does have some martial arts practice from her Karate Kid role. She is a former gymnast (ranked 5th in the state as a high schooler), so she probably could have done well enough with the wire-work that the role required. She is about the right age (38) for a late-era Soviet-trained agent. She has shown some proclivity for using different accents over the years so she at least would not have been any worse with her accent than Johansson did. Actually, now that I think about it, I am pissed that Scarlett was picked for the role. She is too young (she was 7 when the USSR stopped being a thing), seemed to be missing something from her portrayal of the role, and just did not fit in with the rest of the group. Sure, she and her boobs looked great in that uniform, but so what?

Stephen Stills and Ramona from Scott Pilgrim, they nailed it. Really? I never liked Ramona in the movie. She always came off as way too cold, unlikeable and unsympathetic to me. I never got the impression she actually liked Scott as much she was just lonely and thought he would be useful in helping her deal with her ex's. I never really could get into cheering for her and Scott winding up together. I was kinda hoping the movie would end with Scott realizing this and getting back together with Knives.

Well i was going more for the appearence and how the actress played the attitude.I think your issue is more about writing than casting

The last paragraph mentioned that Scarlett was too damned young for the role in the first place.
