Never knew he co-wrote Kokomo oddly enough. I still like the song, DON'T JUDGE! San Francisco is a highly underrated song though. RIP.

To classify this as the sound of the 60's would only work for people on the West coast. The hippies on the East coast were a very different breed, of which, many of them didn't like flower power of San Francisco.

And besides, it doesn't just apply to the USA. It was a huge hit elsewhere, it reached #1 here.
