I've always noticed this but have never heard anyone ask, why does Flair always have his kneepads below his knees as opposed to on his knees? Is it because it's better for your knees? Is it because Flair has really short shin bones causing his knee bone to be lower in his leg? Are his kneepads too big and slide down his leg? Is Flair just a big dummy? Anyone know? Serious answers and funny answers are welcome.

It's to stop his leg being kicked out of his leg.

He did refer to this, I can't remember if it was in his book or shoot interview, but he said it's because he has really skinny calves.

When I was younger I felt like it added to his heelishnes when he dropped the knee.

I always assumed it was because they kept falling down.

Wouldn't it kinda protect your shins when locking on the figure four?

I could've sworn someone on hear said it's because with knee drops, you're actually hitting more with your shin more often than not, but I dunno.

It's to stop his leg being kicked out of his leg. Win. But yeah, I'd also read somewhere it was to do with his chicken legged shins, as HeAdCaSe said.

Sagginess. He puts his kneepads on sitting. When he stands up they sag below his knees along with his skin.

It's so he doesn't have to pay the "Wearing knee pads on your knees" tax.

I think Lance Storm said once that you are supposed to wear them just under your knees. That on your knees really doesn't help much.

I think Lance Storm said once that you are supposed to wear them just under your knees. That on your knees really doesn't help much. That makes sense. Imagine landing on your knees for the Stunner. Your actual knee caps don't hit the ground directly, it's the bottom of your knees and your shins that would hit.

I think Lance Storm said once that you are supposed to wear them just under your knees. That on your knees really doesn't help much. correct, here's the direct quote from his site: "I always get a kick out of this question and have answered it a couple of times. There are 2 basic reasons for wearing your kneepads just below the knees. The first is that it helps cover the fact that you have skinny calves, the other is that unless you do splashes off the top etc. below the knee is actually where you need the padding. If you drop a knee or even just kneel in the ring what part of you is touching the mat? You don’t kneel on your knee cap it’s more the top of the shin / bottom part of your knee that touches the mat, so that is where the pad should be. "

I've always noticed this but have never heard anyone ask, why does Flair always have his kneepads below his knees as opposed to on his knees? That is the ugliest title belt that I've ever seen.

Add me to the list that assumed as a kid it protected his shins and allowed him to use more pressure on the figure four.
I thought it was the same thing with Greg Valentine and the shin guard.
