Anyone listen to this show currently? Or have you listened to the show in the past? I don't listen to the current countdowns, but I do listen to the classic shows from the 70s and 80s. Lots of great songs, but there are some stinkers as well. Aside from the music I like the stories Casey Kasem tells about the artists and/or the songs.
I'm listening to a show from 1984 as I'm typing this. For those of you who do listen to AT40, what do you think of it and what are your favorite parts of the show?

I remember listening to it in the car on the way to church. I grew up on the Shadow Stevens version.

I actually have a couple of countdowns on record that they used to send to radio stations. Casey, along with Dick Clark and his National Record Survey influenced what I do in radio with the stories they would tell, especially Dick. I do love listening to the old ones, but I don't care enough to listen to the current countdowns of today's music.

I loved the "long distance dedications".

I can't help but hear Shaggy whenever Kasem talks. Even with how old ancient he sounds on the radio, I still hear Shaggy.

Is there any websites around to find older American Top 40s, and if so, can it be PMed if not able to be seen?"

I listened to Kasem's second run from 98-03 fairly religiously.
Haven't listened to Ryan Seacrest hosting it. Don't ever plan on starting.

A short story about a top hit and what the song is about. They usually have a short blurb with the artist.
