Feige and Edgar Wright have said the finished Ant-man script does not cross over with Avengers at all and has a completely different tone. I cannot wrap my head around how ridiculous this is. Marvel has made a name for themselves by grounding all of their characters in the same universe, and as the box office for The Avengers shows, it worked. On top of all that, Ant Man CANNOT carry a solo film. An Avengers film is the perfect place for him. Honestly, this crap with Edgar Wright is ridiculous. I don't have any idea why Marvel's letting him screw with Hank Pym as badly as Fox screwed with the Fantastic Four. They have the rights, yet are letting someone butcher it. Mind boggling to say the least. Because Edgar Wright made Spaced, Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz ans Scott Pilgrim. This isn't Fox giving one of the premier superhero teams to the guy who remade Taxi. You're right, Ant-Man can't carry his own movie.... unless you have the right guy, Ant-Man is a ridiculous character, even in terms of super heros, so they're going to give him his own action/comedy vehicle with a very talented man guiding it.

On a different note, in the 616 Marvel U, Fury is now Black(it is his son, NF Jr.) and Coulson exists yup who is also a soldier who lost an eye as i found out on saturday by saying Battlescars what the f*** is this shit

I wouldn't mind Ultron in the sequel but i'm getting tired of evil machines attacking people.

In regards to Coulson. {Spoiler}He isn't dead, it was a life model decoy. Stark mentioned them to Coulson early in the film, so they exist in this universe (an LMD is a robot clone basically), he fakes his death to motivate his hero or some such. {Spoiler}What if Coulson reappears in later movies as the life model decoy recreated by Shield rather than the one dying being the life-model decoy? Then he'd still appear, and you wouldn't create plotholes/shitty storytelling by retconning the on-screen death.

And again, because it needs to be recognised as great {Spoiler} Coulson is dead. Vision needs brain patterns. Coulson = Vision. Gregg Clarke even has the same hairline!

Edgar Wright needs to leave Ant Man alone! I would probably enjoy a Ant Man movie more so then any other Avenger movie outside of Thor.
And what's with the title of this thread? We just couldn't use Avengers Assemble?

So given that there is an Avengers 2 (most likely), who returns and who doesn't? Also...who would be the new Avengers? They should bring in the Great Lakes Avengers.Of course they have to come up with an alternate explanation for how they got powers because I don't think they are allowed to use mutants. Or maybe that was just for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. And what's with the title of this thread? We just couldn't use Avengers Assemble? I think its a die hard reference.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they don't go the Wonder Man route, they need to go the Alex Lipton route. And they should NOT have Vision look like the person who's mind provided the basis for his own no matter /whose/ brain engrams they use.

Well, going with Coulson is essentially going the Lipton route, just with a name change.
Wonder Man will never appear. Name alone would result in people laughing at the guy and asking where his lasso is

I'd like to see Hawkeye back, but I could do without Hulk and Black Widow in the next film, and replace them with....let's say Vision, Hank Pym(in whichever alias you want to use) and Wasp.

Disagreed. Turning Vision into what would essentially be a trumped-up LMD of Coulson is a far cry from Vision's mind (and mind alone) being based on Alex Lipton.
And I don't think the name would really cause quite that much trouble, especially if they manage to get him into the movie-verse before DC can get a Wonder Woman movie off the ground.

Hulk, Doctor Strange, Namor(though I could see him in an Avengers movie as well), and maybe Luke Cage as the Defenders? Great times.

I'm surprised to see the amount of nerd rage people are willing to dive into here: Ant-man is a guy who shrinks. That's his power. You cannot get that over with a mainstream audience without it seeming goofy, and Edgar Wright is a man who has repeatedly taken goofy and made it suddenly awesome.

You forget that there is an inverse to that. He also gets really, REALLY big. And the character of Hank Pym, powerset aside, is a compelling one, that doesn't need to be reduced to a goofy comedy character.

Yeah, Pym isnt a comedy character, but he isnt going to sell a movie on his own either.
He should have been/should be introduced in someone else's movie or the next Avengers film, and then spun off. Let's face it, no way Black Widow was going to support a solo movie, now, I can see it.

It still wouldn't be the easiest sell, but not as hard as if he just shrank.
