I had a feeling he left Otis behind. I hate Shane more and more as this show goes on.

this show is engrossing and incredibly frustrating at the same time.
Shane rules. He's one of the most fully realized characters on the show, and he's kind of villainous, but he's interesting. Its too bad he's probably gonna die by the time the season is over.

It is. You get so engrossed into and it ends. You're left wondering what is going to happen on the next episode.

Aside from his drunken almost-rape of Lori, shooting and leaving Otis behind is the only real dick move he has had, although he has been blamed for everything else it seems.
I'm still of the opinion that if he hadn't told Lori that Rick was dead, he never would've gotten her and Carl out of town, so he did what he had too. But since Rick came back, Lori was completely cold to him... and the second he decides to follow along and keep his distance, he gets yelled at for giving Carl the cold shoulder as well.
Honestly, if I was in that situation, there's a point where I'd be like, "Hell, I'll be blamed for stuff like this anyway." and probably do the same thing. Plus, one of them HAD to be bait since there's no way they could've outrun the zombies themselves. Sure, it was a dick move to volunteer Otis for it, but it's one of those things that HAD to be done.
Of course, it looks like Shane is gonna get more and more evil and dickish as things go on and will end up being the "big bad" this season or next, but I really don't see it as a guy who has randomly decided to become a dick.... rather a guy who has been pushed over the edge and has decided that if he can't co-exist with them, if it's them or him, he's gonna pick himself.

I loved the episode. Shane's definitely our villain for the season. Comic spoilers below. {Spoiler}It is just odd seeing Otis die before Shane, as, well, Otis didn't even appear in the comic until after Shane was already dead and gone. Seriously, Shane in the show has survived longer than he did in the comic, and that's a GOOD THING. And if anything, this episode once and for all without a shadow of a doubt proves that anything can happen now, as Otis was offed in just two episodes. So Otis' length of survival in the show is the inverse of Shane's survival. Whereas Shane didn't last long in the comic, Otis lasted a lot longer than Shane did, in the show, it is flipped around, Shane's lasted longer than Otis.

So, am I the only (huge) fan of the comics that really isn't feeling this show? I've given it now 9 episodes and If the show was canceled tomorrow I really wouldn't miss it.
Maybe i'm just so close minded and can't accept this alternate universe on TV, I don't know.

So many people hate Lori for some reason Well yeah. I hate Lori too. {Spoiler}She had sex with Shane, believing her husband was dead, and the moment Rick came waltzing back from the dead, not only did she leave Shane hanging, but she basically pulled a full 180 on him and was trying to force him out of her life, and then, once she got what she wanted, Shane staying out of her life, she started bitching at him for being cold to Carl, even though being cold to Carl is exactly following what she wanted from Shane, and of course now she knows she's preggers with Shane's baby, so yeah. Basically my hate of Lori comes from her mind-f***ing Shane, tells him one thing, then turns around and bitches that he's doing exactly what she told him to do. Bitch can't make up her damn mind.

this show ought to be better than it is, it relies too heavily on stupid, played out, horror movie cliches. And is it just me, or do these characters find any and all reason to have disagreements? YOU IDIOTS ARE LIVING IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS NOT BEING EATEN. STOP BEING DUMB.
yeah, that guy doesn't want guns on his property. Totally makes sense, he doesn't like guns EVEN THOUGH THEY LIVE IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE WHERE SUCH THINGS ARE EXTREMELY USEFUL.
yeah, after everyone heals up, they should totally separate from each other, because THAT TOTALLY MAKES SENSE TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE ALLIES YOU HAVE, SEEING AS HOW YOU ARE LIVING IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.
and also, let's totally lower Glenn into this well with a live zombie in it. Hell, let's just tie it to this old pump THAT IS RUSTY AS ****, I BET THAT THING WILL NEVER BREAK WHEN WE CAN AFFORD IT LEAST OF ALL. HOW CAN THIS GO WRONG, WE ARE USING SUCH SOUND JUDGEMENT.

I was kind of disappointed in tonight's episode. Not a whole lot happened, but it looks like the next episode should be better.

Just watching episode two now. Haven't read this thread in case of spoilers. Have to say though, the old guy's (RV driver) facial expressions crack me up sometimes.
