So, when Christian's theme changed towards the end of his TNA run from this...
to this, much less melodic version..
...am I right in presuming that the change was because Evanescence called them out on the initial theme being pretty much "My Last Breath" with some slightly changed instrumentation and no vocals? Because the second version changes the intro to be more acoustic, and hangs on the same, shorter melodic phrase in a much less organic way than the original version of "Take Over", completely eliminating the resemblance to "My Last Breath".
It makes the most sense, though it also makes you wonder why WCW didn't get called out for all their even more blatant rip-offs.

I doubt it, when Dale Oliver can still get away with rip offs like this.

Well, let's be fair here, most of TNA's themes are take-offs of other songs, such as Kurt's original theme being "Lunatic Fringe", Samoa Joe's theme starting with the Godzilla theme, Awesome Kong and that...Beethoven chord...
And at least in the case of Kurt and Joe, their themes evolved into rap songs, so this might have been just another remix.
I'm not necessarily defending it, I'm just saying it's a possibility.

I'll give TNA some credit - that song got me on to Evanescence, who are now one of my favourite bands.
That would surely be the reason for the change, since it sounds much worse.

I believe there was a time around 2008 when a lot of guys got sudden changes to their theme songs, and it was rumored to be because one of their rip-off themes was a little too close to the original, specifically Matt Morgan's instrumental of "Click Click Boom". Christian's theme got changed to his last version, the newly-formed Beer Money went from using Roode's intro to James Storm's singles theme to just Roode's singles theme, and Morgan went back to the theme that he still has today.
