...is booked like the men's division? You know, in the sense that there are more veterans in the title scene than homegrown talents? As much as TNA has gotten flack for how it's main event is booked (look at this year alone: prior to a few weeks ago, the four people to bounce the world title betwixt themselves were all WWE/WCW talents, with three of them having held world titles in their previous companies), there was always solace taken in the fact that the Knockout's division was, in many ways, a vast contrast to the Divas division of the WWE: In fact, the division included a lot of women who probably* wouldn't have a chance in the WWE. Prior to this year, only two former WWE Divas held the Knockout's title, and one of them was one of the founders of the Knockout's division.
Until this year, of course. After signing with TNA, Mickie James has seen something of a permanent spot in the spotlight of the Divas division. Similarly, it wasn't but a few months until Katie Lea "Winter" became Knockout's champion and something of a major character. And with the return of the division's founding mother (as well as the possibility of Melina being signed), what's the over under on the Knockout's division, well... looking a lot like the Divas division?
The probably, of course, is based on Kong's signing with the WWE; prior to this year, the idea of her being in the Divas division was pretty much nil.

It's a little different from the men's division. For example, Gail Kim is back. She arguably reached her highest level of popularity with TNA in her previous run, NOT with WWE. So, while she's officially a former Diva, for practical purposes, she's "home grown"
Also, despite all the former Divas they've brought in, they've continued to feature the home growns as main eventers(or at least as close to Main-eventers as the KO's can be). Velvet and Angelina are the best examples. Traci Brooks(my favorite-I drool whenever her cleavage is on screen) is another.
In contrast, the home grown men seem to move down significantly for the former WWE guys as they come in. Think: Kurt Angle(perhaps he deserves it, but still) Christian, Booker T, Mr Anderson, RVD, etc.

Winter for all purposes should really be considered a homegrown in the same vein as Pope or Matt Morgan, not really hired for any WWE fan's recognition factor, just because they seemed like good assets to the company, having a radically different name and character.
They hardly give Tara any special preference, so you have just Mickie and Gail on the ME scene, two real wrestlers in prime physical shape, hardly the broken down old men male division has beens.
If anything the only terrible acquisition from WWE TNA had done regarding females is Cristy Hemme, and Im counting Chyna there, as she was surprisingly decent.
