So what are everyone's thoughts on the concept/theme/look/etc? Not talking about this years, but just the PPV in general.
Its been around since 2007 (As Vengeance: Night of Champions) so there's a solid 5 year history behind it. Looking at the past events it seems to never really have a 'filler' main event. HHH/Cena, HHH/Orton/Cena, Punk/Hardy, Edge/Batista, The 6 pack challenge during the Nexus era, HHH/Punk, and now Cena/Punk are some of the headlining matches its had.
The PPV has changed a bit the last 2 years due to the consolidation of belts. Back in 2007-2009 there was an extra ECW title, 2 tag belts, 2 womens belts, etc. so there never was a PPV that could be every title defense other than NOC, but nowadays there are less titles around and thus non title matches are starting to creep their way into the cards, with Punk/Show in 2010 and Punk/HHH main eventing in 2011.
Although its not one of the big 4 PPVs I think Night Of Champions has definitely earned its spot on the PPV roster so to speak. Its got a unique feel to it, with the columns and such, and it kinda forces WWE to give a shit about every title at least for one PPV out of the year, even if some of the title matches still aren't heavily built.

I like it. It's usually one of my favorite shows of the year.
HHH/Cena in 08 was a great match.

As long as every title is defended, I think it is a solid PPV because this doesn't happen at every other PPV.

I'd be a lot more enamoured by it if it was built around the idea of what it is to be a champion and its consequent lustre, regardless of belt, but its general marketing point tends to strike me as a bit redundant, as it just implies that they don't give a monkeys about any other belt than the main ones the other 11 months of the year.
Of course, this is true, but it's not the wisest move, pointing it out within the show's canon.

Did anyone else like the 5 pack challenge from the 07 Vengeance: NOC? Although not the best match I have ever seen I thought it was decent spotty fun with a lot of action. The six pack challenge in 2010 was great also. I don't think they use multiple man challenge matches enough, both elimination and first pinfall.

It was almost impossible beforehand to have every title defended on a PPV.

Great idea, but there are a few problems.
For example, in 2010, the Tag Team match wasn't set up until the night of the event, when it was a "tag team turmoil" match simply made for the current champions to lose their belt eventually to whoever showed up.

It's a good show, though they need to set up all the title matches on shows prior to NoC.

My main problem with it is the worth of the titles.
The US Title is held by a relative unknown who is still getting his feet wet in the mainstream, and the IC Title is held by a former main event talent who loses most of his matches.
Personally, because the US Champ wins most of his matches, that title is more valuable.
In regards to titles between WWE, TNA and ROH, I would put the IC Title above the TNA KO Tag Titles and the WWE Divas Title. Most other Champion is generally pretty well booked in comparison.

My problem with this PPV is that Cena is going over. Other than that, well i look forward to it. On the topic of NoC in general. What would be cool is like a championship scramble match for the US title(or IC). That would make more people have something to do. Also, a laddermatch for tag champs. With like 3 or 4 teams invovled. Mayhem, but cool. Think about the spots!

I love the concept. The arena always has a really regal "Championship" feel to it as well, with the title banners hanging down. Plus I love that Pirates of the Caribbean style theme.

The music is the best part. No Kevin Rudolf or Skillet or whatever, it's this really dramatic orchestral piece that sounds awesome under Cole hyping the matches. It's surprising to me what it a difference it makes in the presentation of the show.

If they promote it correctly, giving every title the spotlight they deserve going into the PPV, it can be one of the better shows of the year.. although you'd think that would be a concept for the entire year, not just a few weeks.

Night of Champions is good if they give the titles the focus, it makes them seem like a big deal and the promotion materials can be great - I loved that one of all the wrestlings standing, holding their belts in front of them, deadly serious. Made it seem like a PPV that mattered.
