I wouldn't care about wrestling news, I'd just want to hear Captain Lou ramble on.
I wonder how many of those old hotlines actually were successful.

They made a lot of money off me, well at least for 1 month and then my parents whooped my rear end. I never called again. Problem with the hotline is that with Capt Lou he talks fast and hard to understand, so you had to listen a few times to understand what he was saying.

I remember an ad for Rick Rude doing something like this between his 1990's time in WWF and WCW.

I called it for SS 88 results and he did talk pretty fast, but I did get my info all at once, so it worked out at least for me

The only hotlines I ever called were the WCW hotline during the early '90s and the ECW one during the mid '90s. I was much too young to remember anything about the WCW one, but I recall that the ECW trivia game on the hotline would always reset my score and count my correct answers as incorrect.
I would love to hear what the Lou Albano one said. Too bad no one ever thought of recording them.

we had a free number here from the newspaper called The Herald Line. It had a wrestling section and played all the wrestling hotline stuff plus interviews. It was awesome that I didn't have to pay. One interview I remember was Dan Severn from AWA where he said he was 76 years old and I bought it.

Was this around for WM 1? I remember calling it for the results. I was done with wrestling at WM3 and I watched 2 and 3 so it had to have been WM 1.
Anyway, waste of two bucks.
