Unnecessarily mocking Andre, for one thing. The man has been dead for nearly 20 years. Let him rest in peace. mocking? lmao

I love Jason Segal. That's all I'm going to comment on this, since it't all "SNL is terrible, blah, blah, blah."

Dave Meltzer's take on the skit from Sunday's Observer news update:
"NBC Saturday Night Live did an Andre the Giant skit last night. He was choosing a ice cream cone. The guy trying to do Andre's voice ended up speaking as if Andre was a Russian instead of French, but at least he had a good Andre afro wig."

Not surprising.

Why he chose to do Andre as a bad Jerry Seinfeld I don't know.

I get the feeling that I were to watch anything wrestling related with Meltzer I'd punch him out in about 3 minutes.

I just watched the "sketch" on Hulu. Colour me deeply offended. LOL,offended?Don't be,his family wasn't... via TMZ- "Andre the Giant 's family was watching when Jason Segel impersonated the late wrestler on " Saturday Night Live " this weekend ... AND THEY LOVED IT!! Segel starred in a sketch called, "Andre the Giant Chooses an Ice Cream Flavor" -- in which he conjures up the legend's voice PERFECTLY while discussing the pros and cons of mint chip. Now, TMZ has spoken with a rep for Andre's estate ... who tells us, "Jason Segel nails this impression and demonstrates with good humor that Andre's legacy continues to be relevant and has a big impact on the entertainment industry." As for Andre's REAL favorite ice cream flavor -- we're lookin' into it ... seriously. "

I heard about this sketch after it aired and was very excited! One of my favorite parts of "I Love You, Man" (besides the entire movie) was the Andre impression.
The sketch wasn't that great but I was happy to hear it again.

It wasn't funny...it was cute and done well. Respectful I suppose and his estate gave their praise for it.
But it just seemed unnecessary....who even decided to write that?

Great idea but needed better writing. The best part was when he said hello lady.

It's crazy how low Segel can make his voice go. Good impression. It wasn't a terribly funny sketch but the idea of Andre the Giant picking an Ice Cream flavour was humorous.

I don't understand how anyone can be offended by that sketch. It wasn't the funniest thing ever, but it was good filler, and you can Jason Segel really loves Andre. Just a great impression/tribute.
