What classic match, event or single wrestling legend would you want to see live?
I've been on a kick of watching old matches and promos from the 70's and 80's. I love watching old school promos, even though the match that they were promoting wasn't either taped or barely shown. Take for example, Nick Bockwinkel vs The Crusher in a steel cage. There are videos on youtube which both Bockwinkel and Crusher cut promos on each other hyping this thing up. And I'm watching this and I'm thinking "It sucks its 2011 not 1979, because these men just made me want to buy a ticket to see that match"
There are many matches I'd like to see live if I had a time machine.
-Ric Flair vs Dusty Rhodes in which Flair won his first NWA World Title. *Reportedly not the greatest match these two have had, but for historic purposes, it would be a great one to see.
-The first Starrcade in 1983 *I saw this whole show on Youtube and have seen Valentine/Piper and Flair/Race in the cage several times. But the entire show is one of my favorite old school shows. And being one of the most important wrestling events in history, just being there would have been awesome.
-Both Wrestlemania I and III *Again, I've seen these two on tape many times. Just being at the first Mania would have been great to see. Same with Wrestlemania III to see not only the biggest match in Wrestling history Hogan and Andre but to see Steamboat vs Savage in one of the best pure wrestling matches ever.
-To see a standard Gorgeous George match. *It doesn't need to be a historic match. I'd love to see how people reacted to the first great wrestling gimmick and see how great the man was in the ring.
-A World Title match from the turn of the century * This would be real interesting. To see Pro wrestling being treated as a legit sport. To biggest match of the time was Frank Gotch vs George Hackenschmidt so that would be an interesting watch.

Wrestlemania XIV! I've mentioned a few times here that this is my favourite wrestling event ever. This was wrestling at it's peak, imo and nothing will surpass it!

I would of loved to been there when Marty Jennety dove through that window to escape from HBK on the Barber Shop.
Any Road Warriors match where the doomsday device was used.
Snuka diving off the cage.
Wrestlemania 3

Oh, man there are so many! Perhaps(to be forced to pick out something) it would be Jerry "The King" Lawler, as the NWA Southern Heavyweight Champion challenging the NWA World Heavyweight Champion(be it Jack Brisco, Terry Funk, Harley Race or whoever) for the title in a match at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN.
These were typically 60 minute time limit draws, loaded with classic moves, great psychology, and energy. I saw several of these live, and was absolutely drained physically and emotionally at the end of the match. Lawler was a master at playing the role of the local hero/underdog. Even during the times when he was a playing a heel during the regular weekly shows, he was instantly the fan favorite when the NWA World Champ came to town. And, even better, the NWA champ was not necessarily a heel. Harley Race never came across as a cowardly heel-he was just too intimidating. The crowd clearly respected the champ, but was very much pulling for the local boy to take the title.

Wrestlemania 6
I also wish i could of watched a card at the Sportatorium in Dallas(back when the Von Erich's were hot), or any of the other famous wrestling arenas such as St Paul Civic Centre, MSG, Maple Leaf Gardens, Greensboro Coliseum etc.....Doesn't matter who is on the card, I just would of liked to experience a card during the heyday of wrestling in one or two of these arena's. The atmosphere must have been awesome.

Hey Tigermask, I was at the parade of champions brother. I was five, it was hot as schlitt, I wish I remembered more of the show but a ton of kids were playing close by and my dad never noticed I was with them because he was so into the show.
My choice; Nitro July 6 98

Hogan vs. Iron Sheik. Any Nature Boy Buddy Rogers match from his prime (maybe the NWA Title match against Pat O'Connor). If he counts...Abe Lincoln against anyone.

Wrestlemania X7. Then again, going back in time wouldn't help at all. I'd have to be able to go back and time AND have enough money to buy a ticket and make my way to Houston. Best PPV of all time IMO.

Best PPV of all time IMO. You're already going back in time. Bet on something you already know is gonna happen, take your winnings, buy a ticket, see Mania!

a Memphis card with Lawler or a Sportatorium show with the Von Erichs...awesome choices.
howabout a Detroit show with the Shiek and Bobo Brazil.
or a Chicago show with Dick the Bruiser and Crusher.
an LA show with Blassie
MSG with Superstar Graham. or Backlund vs Snuka in the cage.
side story - i actually saw a Battle Royal with Andre at the old Boston Garden. halfway through the match Gorilla Monsoon got thrown from the ring by the Valiant Brothers (all 3 - Handsome Jimmy, Lucious Johnny, and Gentleman Gerry). on his way over the top rope, he broke the top rope. at the end of the match, it was the 3 Valiants in against Andre. they're choking him down with the broken ring rope, but they can't get him out of the ring. Andre struggles to his feet, the Garden erupts, and one by one, the Valiants get tossed from the ring. Awesome stuff.
