I'm surprised this gets overshadowed by the Katie Vick stuff, because this was the main event for the show, plus it happened the exact same time, but I only know about it thanks to watching the No Mercy '02 DVD.
In the build up to the show, Heyman brought in some other woman from 'Taker's past, the specifics I still don't remember. Then the night of the PPV, she's showing up in Steph's office, tells her it's all a lie, 'Taker shows up to hear everything before the match, and...nothing.
What the heck was that supposed to be about?!

It was to cause personal drama between 'Taker and his wife Sara (who had been established as his wife on screen at that point by the DDP feud).
When 'Taker called her a 'lying bitch' after the lass had admitted to Stephanie that she had lied that strand of the story was over.

Also showed the Undertaker threatening a doctor into giving him a pain shot before his match.
I bet that's probably a segment the WWE wishes they didn't film in hindsight.

She also had a cocaine habit and drugged him to make people believe he got her pregnant.

This was around the time Vince wanted more "soap-opera" like storylines, because of the mainstream attention the Billy and Chuck wedding angle received. Thus, we got Katie Vick and this stupid Undertaker storyline.
However, I truly think this was one of the better HIAC matches ever, if not my personal favorite. This went a long way in building Brock as a legit BA, walking into Undertaker's specialty and beating him to a bloody pulp.

And it was mighty nice of Steph to forgive Undertaker for his actions 3 years earlier.

If Orton were to sit down next to Cena and ask him that, the collective eye roll would generate enough energy to power Norway. There are some things you can only get away with by including one or both of the Brothers of Destruction.
