Sorry to be tardy to the party...thoughts:
-I'm from Ohio and I love the MAC. So seeing Ohio defeat Penn State was nice.
-Youngstown State not only winning, but doing so DECISIVELY against Pitt was nice.
-Kent State winning made a happy fellow.
-Highlight of the Weekend: My best friend is over and we're watching the Ohio/PSU game. He turns and says to me: "So..what's the over/under on Penn State getting an illegal use of hands penalty?"

Damn what I would have given to see UNI knock off the Badgers. Also I am beginning to think that Penn State won't irk out a win this season. I've got PSU beating Navy and maybe Temple, they might steal another one but other than that I expect them to take some serious ass kickings. I wouldn't take Indiana over Penn State either.

Texas State was only the 7th underdog of more than 34 points to win a college football game since 1980.

Remember when Kentucky and Louisville football had offensive dynamos?
Guys like Brian Brohm, Michael Bush, Andre Woodson, Stevie Johnson. Don't expect those types of fireworks when they meet today.
If anything, this will be a "First to 21 wins" game.

At the Hog game last night, few things leapt out-
Chris Gragg looks like he's going to be Wilson's favorite target
Knile Davis looks healthy.
Cobi Hamilton, who is ostensibly the number one receiver got hurt on a play early and was out the rest of the game. Curiously, coaches called it an injury 'above the shoulders'.. people speculated it mighta been a concussion, but the team was non-comittal. Hopefully since they're playing another cupcake next week, they can rest him up for week three against Alabama.
The major concern was just how sloppy it was. It sounds weird to see when they beat the other team by 25; but they coughed up the ball three times, and honestly should've rolled Jacksonville State by forty had they been hitting on all cylinders. The scary thing is the lack of tackling, either just blowing tackles or not wrapping guys up.
They looked ok, but it was a lackluster effort even in a blow-out. I'm hoping that was just some sorta first game malaise; cuz if they play like that against 'Bama, they'll get run off the field.

Any big games for this Saturday? In 2 weeks, we have Bama-Arkansas and USC-Stanford. But the week before that- anything that qualifies as must-see?

USC/Syracuse at MetLife looks interesting, but given Northwestern beat Syracuse, can't imagine USC will have too many problems with them.

Oh you mean the Auburn coach that won you a national championship two yrs ago? That guy? First championship since the 50's wasn't it? You mean the championship Cam Newton won? Let's face it, when you have a player/QB like Newton on your team, you don't have to be a coaching mastermind to start wracking up wins. The players play with no focus or discipline. A lot of the team's problems are due to poor coaching. I didn't like him when they hired him, I didn't like him when they won the title, and I don't like him now. And it's not just me. I've honestly yet to talk to an Auburn fan who has much faith in him. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine actually said that, "the bad part of winning the title was that Chizik got a contract extension." Plus, this is the guy who initially hired Ted Roof as DC. That alone should tell you something is wrong with him. I think if the team doesn't improve or compete against their rivals, he's done. Ted Roof wasn't a bad hire when it happened. He helped turn Minny's defense around in his only year there. Roof just didn't have long-term coaching ability. He reminds me of Gary Crowton in that sense.

Good coaching there in UK/Louisville. Down 18 with 4th and 9 at the UL 18, so you kick the FG to get it to a 2 possession game, right? Nope, throw a WR screen for 3 yards.
I took Louisville with the -13, so it doesn't bother me any, just didn't make any damn sense.

The school has been pushing for years for a move up to the FBS, I knew that would go a long way in getting us there. However, I'm still happy it wasn't a complete and utter massacre. Having said that, I think Arkansas will be just fine. Tyler Wilson is too good for them not to be.

Looks like Blake Countess, our lone returning defensive stand out, tore his knee up against Bama and is done for the season. He'll get a medical redshirt and return next year.

Well, I think the Mississippi State game will be the "season" for Auburn. If they lose that, yeah, it's not going to be a very pretty outcome when the season draws to a close. Hopefully the defense will step up and Kiehl Frazier won't hold on the ball forever/look like a deer in headlights for the majority of the game.
The Georgia/Mizzou game is also another one I'm interested in. A lot of people think I'm crazy for saying it, but I think Mizzou has a great shot at beating Georgia.

Definitely, and the offense played well, sans the coughing up the ball; it was the defense that really had me worried. Credit to your guys though, they kept on battling, even when the game was finally outta reach.

So FSU, which just beat Murray St by 66, is playing Savannah St, which just lost by 84.
I'm going to say FSU - 136, Sav St - 0.

Everyone I know (who keeps up with college football) somehow believes that this is the year Georgia lives up to the hype. I just don't see it. Even if they do get through their painfully weak schedule, I don't see them marching into the SEC championship game and taking down an Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas.
