By this, I mean "Most consecutive PPV title matches without winning the belt"
Lets take a look at Batista's colossal fail of 2007. He loses the belt to Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23. No shame in that. But he followed that up with....
1. Backlash 2007 - No contest against the Undertaker. 2. Judgment Day 2007 - Lost to Edge 3. One Night Stand 2007 -Lost to Edge in a cage match 4. Vengeance 2007 - Lost to Edge by Countout in a "Last Chance match (Goddamn Edge trolled Batista) 5. Great American Bash - Lost to the Great Khali in a triple threat match with Kane 6. Summerslam 2007 - Won against the Great Khali by DQ, didn't get belt.
He finally won the Belt the next PPV, Unforgiven. But thats 6 straight PPVs of being the challenger and failing, with 3 different champions who somehow managed to lose the belt to someone who didn't have a billion title shots.
Alberto Del Rio WOULD have been close, with OTL, MITB, Summerslam, and NOC, but he missed No Way Out so that broke up the sequence.

On a side note, that Vengeance 2007 ending with Batista and Edge is utterly hilarious.
Edge low blows Batista for the DQ, and since it was a last chance match, Teddy Long tries his hardest to give Batista another shot after so many fails, and lets the match continue, where Edge could lose the title by DQ or countout. Then, this dumbass Batista is at a 9 count with Edge on the outside and he rolls Edge in first, thus getting himself counted out.
That whole Edge/Batista feud was just Edge trolling the living s*** out of Batista. Cena and Undertaker at least got a few big wins after some Edge trolling. Batista just lost.

Before Edge's main event push he did. A couple of TV matches.

Before Edge's main event push he did. A couple of TV matches. You're right...I completely forgot about that. Edge won that tournament during his MITB reign and was going to face Batista for the WHC. I thought they were going to pull the trigger on a feud right there. But then Triple H came right back...ugh.

Did Batista ever beat Edge? The Smackdown after Vengeance he pinned Edge one on one... in a non-title match.
