Hello people, I've never done a thread like this before, but I thought it would be a good way to get some info. I spent last night in the local ER with severe stomach pains. Apparently I have gallstones and while the immediate pain has passed, they recommended I get surgery for it sometime with in the next two months.
So anybody go through anything similar and want to share some advice? Treatments? Diets? Just anything that might help. Thanks.

One of my friends just had his gall bladder taken out two days ago. They never really told him of any diets or anything. He pretty much went to the hospital Thursday and they told him they had to remove his gall bladder. He was in and out in a day. I went and visited him yesterday and he said he could still eat his normal stuff. Sorry I don't have any info other than that. There may be some other treatments but if you have to have it taken out,it's apparently not too bad. He's sore but fine.

My mother had hers removed a couple of years ago after dealing with pains she thought were cramps almost all her life. Just keep the greasy foods to a bare minimum, and always keep your system clean by drinking a lot of water (3-4 bottles a day tops, you don't want to drink too much).
Although any kind of diet may vary depending on your age and what kind of shape you're in.

I have gallstones. When I have an attack, it is literally the worst pain I've ever felt. Thankfully, I only have one every few months. My last one was at work. I was freaking destroyed. Next time I have an attack, I am off to the hospital.
My wife had her gallbladder out 6 or 7 years ago. She just can't deal with spicy foods or anything greasy.

I had my Gall Bladder removed a few months ago. I was in agony for a week as it gave me Pancreatitis. I'd had them diagnosed a while before and tried to stop eating certain foods to prevent surgery but in the end I was admitted to Hospital with the pain. They wanted me to come back a month or so later and have the Gall Bladder removed but I couldn't do it as I was going to the USA for a holiday, so they did it then instead. I had keyhole surgery to remove it, so I was out a couple of days later. The only side-effect I've had so far is that it messes your stomach around so it affects your shitting habits. The need to shit comes on very quickly! I was told by the Doctors that the pain from gall stones and their various effects is on a level with childbirth, so I feel your pain. Plus if any woman ever says that you have no idea how much childbirth hurts, you can own her!
