About one year after the Brand Split, when they realised that guys from the late 90's were starting to slow down and needed fresh blood. So, for me, roughly end of 2003/mid 2004.

When the invasion started. The attitude era existed to get ratings to compete with wcw, when they were gone the wwf changed.

Even though much of the elements that defined the Attitude era remained, arguably until as late as 2008, I'd say that, yes... the "Attitude Era" itself ended at WM 17.

When the invasion started. The attitude era existed to get ratings to compete with wcw, when they were gone the wwf changed. That's a good point. Maybe the attitude era ended on the simulcast? So much of the Attitude Era was defining the WWF against and above the WCW/NWO juggernaut. Though I think I still like the end of WM17 better.

The night after Survivor Series 2001, when Ric Flair returned, felt like the end of the era for me. It was all downhill from there, for a while at least.
