This seems like a much better idea. TV ratings are so outdated these days when so many people watch things online. That is certainly something WWE would benefit from. Between the official online places to view WWE programming, the non-official places, tivo/recordings of shows, overseas delayed viewings and so on, RAW is just being spread thin. They need a better way to total up their actual viewers to better inform investors and advertisers. I'm with both of these. Lemme also add, does Nielsen ratings include recorded shows? Really, is there any way of registering the ratings of shows that get the TiVo versus beings seen live? Speaking for myself, even when I was much more interested in RAW two years ago, I still had to record it or I'd miss it because I was in school, and thus I wouldn't watch the night of because I'd be so exhausted that I'd come home and crash. So you've got online and recorded viewings that aren't accounted for; I presume if they were, RAW's rating today and prior to today would be significantly higher.

The problem is are these views live from 8-11 or the next couple of hours or the next day? It is really the same number of people who would have watch RAW live when they watched it later that should be added to the ratings? I think the ratings system are fine and these recorded viewing shouldn't be added. The drop in viewers have been a trend and I think that RAW going to three hours, with MNF added in, is the main cause. At least for this RAW, no Cena means no views.

Yes, they have a way of measuring first run viewings of DVR'd shows. It's the +7 number that comes out usually 10 days after the show air. As long as you watch the show for the first time within 7 days it can be reported and counted. Typically it makes the final number maybe 10% higher.

Sheamus/Show debate lost a tone of viewers. Keep Sheamus away from the mic, and just let him be a bad "arse" No one is buying this "smart guy" funny routine.

Not surprising. I know people will say "well, this" and "well, that", but they've been playing within the same system the entire run of the show, nothing's changed. And for awhile Monday Night Football was actually the marquee football program of the week, which it no longer is. That TV package moved to Sundays in 2005.

CM Punk might as well CM pack his things. He can't carry the show.

It was bound to happen all NFL season long with the WWE show going 3 hours witch is too long when the product isn't over to begin with on top of NFL. Then you add in The Voice and Dancing with the Stars doing big numbers on top of secondary shows that do better than WWE up with new episodes.

I know I'm going to get crap for saying this but what would help is if they get the title off CM Punk ASAP. It's old. And many people like myself are simply sick to death of him. They also need to drop the AJ Lee stuff. She's cute...but has outstayed her welcome with many already and lastly they need to lose the 3 hrs.
It's way too long to ask people to watch a show centered around: Punk, AJ, Cena...and that's about it. As a viewer (speaking for myself) AJ & Punk are on screen way too much and neither are that entertaining at least to me as a viewer. When I look at them on screen I can't wait for them to be off my screen.
There is no earthly reason for anyone to have a long reign such as Punk's current one or like Cena's in the past. I'm hoping they take that title off him @ the next PPV so I can get a breather from his ungodly long and go no where title reign.
I think if they addressed these problems then maybe things would get a little better. I know people like myself would appreciate it.

Why should the expect high ratings? The show continues to market itself towards pre-15 year olds who are afraid to leave their house because the world is too big and scary. TV has gotten more adult oriented and reality based and WWE has become more scripted and less edgy.
Theres very little to get excited about in WWE, theres almost NEVER a surprise and they stick 20 minutes worth of watchable programming into 3 hours of more and more of what we saw the last several weeks.
Characters are repetative and blands, heels act one way faces another. It's total absent of any of the qualities that saw the last boom period happen.
People who tune in weekly aside, what is WWE doing that would bring in new viewers or bring back casual viewers?

CM Punk, AJ, and Cena are all products of the booking and the dated mindset of WWE. It doesn't matter who they have in prominent positions. If the booking is still horrible, the show will still be horrible.

Well it does not really matter who the show is center around because no one in the current active roster will boost rating substanitly. Rating drops are mostly due to people losing interest in the WWE plus Monday night Football.

Back in the day someone like Punk would be the type of guy fans would be demanding gets a shot at the world title. But these days he's already held the title a handful of times and theres nothing to do but spin his wheels.

He hasn't been involved with anything really close to decent since like the Ace/Ziggler feud.

Seriously whats there left for Punk to do? or half the roster thats already been world champion for that matter?

I said it last week and i'll say it again. Get ready for Cena to break sammartino's record. I've read a lot of outlandish things on here. This might be the top of them.

Does Vince really sweat rating nowadays? As mentioned before, with online and Tivo/Sky+ (whatever you call it) taking up a huge number of people watching the show, as long as the live shows get attendance and the merch sells... do ratings really matter that much anymore?

Whenever there's a low rating the excuse is always "well, football" or some other program on television, ignoring that ratings have been dropping slowly over the years.
The problem is the product. Not who the belt is on, not if Cena is absent... it's the abysmal product. It was already mediocre before, but now that they're stretching it out for three hours without adding any compelling elements? I'm betting some people are just walking away. It's tedious to watch.
