My father has shown what an inspiration he's been to me. Instead of breaking down and crying, he told me (paraphrased) "it's for the best, it was causing so much stress living here (due to a legal case, house wasn't foreclosed). We're moving to a friend's house temporarily and we will be on our feet again soon". I'm so moved by his positive attitude. It's not like we're getting no money (we're receiving half the sale price despite the other person's "efforts" ) and my father will have money soon to get another house near my sister. I felt I needed to post this because in a world that forces so many negatives, I wanted to show you guys that there's always positivity in times where all seems to be going wrong. Goodbye childhood home, you gave me a lot of great memories but honestly I really won't miss you that much.

It takes a strong man to roll with the punches like that. You should be proud of him. Yeah, there's a lot of negativity in the world but positives can arise as we deal with that negativity. Sorry to hear about your childhood home but people can always make more great memories.

Hopefully, my father gets the check from a lawsuit he won soon. If he does, they will be homeowners again before the end of the year for sure.

Takes the punches and keeps moving forward. Doesn't just lay down.

Sounds like you are lucky that your father is a good man. Takes the punches and keeps moving forward. Doesn't just lay down. He is. The man has been through a lot in his life: -Hospitalized for a heart murmur as a kid -Father died young while he was on vacation and took time off from college. -Lost his job of 10 years in 2003 and was hopping from job to job since but never felt sorry for himself. -Suffered a mini-stroke in 2010 on his birthday in Disney World at dinner, leading to aneurysms and a mild case of Parkinson's. -Has had to deal with this "other person" for two years now, which effected his health even more. I really think in the long run, losing this house is going to work out. Once they get a new house, it will be a new chapter as he (who is now on disability and can't work anymore) and Mom (who will probably be leaving her job soon) can live out their retirement years quietly.

I always hope that if something like that happened, I'd be like that. Sounds like a good bloke.

The way I see it, losing a house is just an opportunity to find something better. I was kicked out of the house I was renting because it was sold but I bought a house that was much more modern, has a garage, apple tree and a spacious backyard and within walking distance to work.

Your dad seems like he knows the value of what's important in life. It's not ones possessions. Learn from him.

I'm sorry for what you're going through, but you seem like you've adopted your dad's positive outlook, so good things lie ahead. It's nice to see that you appreciate what you have.
I left my childhood home at age 12 when we moved up north, and I missed it like hell at first but now, where I am is home, and I like it a hell of a lot more. I hope the same happens for you.

I can't imagine going through something like that, losing the house that you grew up in, and not having any control over the situation. Your dad has a great attitude, I hope your family gets back on their feet and I'm glad the stress is off their shoulders.

Sounds like a great man.
Hopefully both he, you and the rest of your family get the change in fortunes a man with an attitude like that deserves!
