Hogan needs to stop claiming things.
I do encourage Hollywood to keep offering parts to Hogan, taking the offer back, and then denying ever giving him the offer in the first place though. That'd be funny.

True story.
Brothers in Red and Yellow was re-named to something else once Will Smith replaced the Hulkster in the Tommy Lee Jones movie.

Hulk Hogan was also originally going to have Kevin Costner's role in The Bodyguard, but had to drop out because filming conflicted with him single-handedly winning the Gulf War.

It's getting to a point where Hogan's going to lie about things in his life that actually did happen. I expect him to say something like one day "I was supposed to be in the main event at WM3 but Andre said 'Hogan you're too powerful' so I ended up headlining with the Stones that year'

"I remember that time I met the President and mooned him."
"That was Forrest Gump."
"What I meant to say was I saved the President from being killed in a Nuclear attack while he was watching The Super Bowl."
"That was The Sum of All Fears."
"What I meant to say was that I was the President and I fought terrorists on a plane."
"That was Air Force One."
"Yes, that's what we called it."

I remember a Bischoff interview where he "confirmed" it because they went through his production company. Ha.

I believe Hogan has a habit of taking possibilities and turning them into realities in his head. Case in point; he insists he was supposed o be the original spokesman for the Lean Mean Grilling Machine-but I have a feeling it is more like the company that produced them had a list of severals people they were considering for spokesperson, and his name was among them, before they settled on George Foreman. Probably the same thing here.

Hogan taught Michael Jackson how to Moonwalk. The original song title was not "Smooth Criminal", but "Smooth Hulkster". It was written after Michael Jackson watched Hogan with the ladies. Jackson changed it because he was jealous of Hogan.

I'll play devil's advocate here.
1. Before the movie The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke's last big staring role was what, Point Blank in 1998. Rourke was probably somewhere down at the level of Hogan in terms of box office potential, so is it really out of the question that the role could be offered to him?
2. Why would Darren Aronofsky say he never contacted Hogan? Well, maybe because if that comes it, it goes from, wow, Darren Aronofsky saw something in Mickey Rourke and helped him return to glory, to wow Darren Aronofsky sure got lucky that he got Mickey Rourke chose the part over Hulk Hogan.
3. Would it surprise anyone if sometime during development that Hogan could have been offered a role, and with Hogan's penchant for exaggeration, it became the main role?
Now, this could all be just me thinking out loud, but the actual premise is not that far-fetched.

You're right that the Wrestler gets to much credit for bringing Rourke back but he was not like John Travolta before Pulp Fiction. He had just come off a very hyped performance in Sin City. And was billed just under Kiera Knightley in Domino. The story has always been, as I heard it anyway, that Rourke had the part shortly after Aronofsky saw him as Marv.

Mickey Rourke's performance in that movie was amazing, Hogan would've been so bad. I'm sure Aronofsky knew that, and if he didn't all it would take was one line-reading and the Hulkster would've never been called back, brother.
