This isn't a hate thread more of a opinion thread.
After seeing bits and pieces of the Punk DVD and hearing some random interviews Punk has started to come across very arrogant to me.
I understand frustration and grabbing what you want, and I am happy for Punk and have enjoyed his title reign but he just comes across so self marky for himself. From his burial of people he doesn't like (See Miz) to his asshole tendencies to fans (totally support this one bytheway). Punk is one of those guys who can really rub you the wrong way.
Now that he has been on top awhile and the honeymoon period of one of the indy guys making big has passed, what are you true thoughts on Punk?
(No Poll because I hate them)
Personally I like Punk, I think he thinks a little too high of himself and I believe that he really thinks he is the best in the world, which I would disagree with, but overall I like him, if Rock takes the title I won't be upset, but if Punk makes it to Mania with his reign intact that would be fine too.
(Sorry for the gross misuse of commas and other grammar inefficiencies)

No one can deny how good he is, but what he did to Miz was uncalled for by every stretch of the imagination. It'd be one thing if Miz felt the same way about him, but Punk handpicked everyone to be on that DVD (at least to my knowledge) and Miz put him over in the best way possible. The very least Punk could have done is returned the favor by not completely burying him.
It must be nice for Punk to say stuff like that when Taker isn't around to put him on blast for burying his co-worker.

He's unquestionably a self-mark but unquestionably very talented as well. The question is whether he's as good as he believes he is.
I blame the culture of people having lower and lower expecations as to what it means to 'make it'. Selling out shows, headlining big arenas, selling millions of PPV buys etc is one way.
The other way is by getting a cult-following, mainly online. Punk may consider himself to be one of the best based on far less than predecessors to his spot would have. Not a criticism necessarily but just the way the business seems to be for a lot of guys these days.

He's good, but nowhere near as good as he/some fans perceives him(self). I generally enjoy him, but this title reign has been brutal. All in all I think that Daniel Bryan is better on pretty much ever level as far as big indy guy's making it to the big time go.

All in all I think that Daniel Bryan is better on pretty much ever level as far as big indy guy's making it to the big time go. I think that's the problem. Punk wants to be up there with the likes of Hart, Michaels, Hogan, Austin, Savage, Cena.....but he compares unfavourably in many ways to a Daniel Bryan. He's like a guy who can make a decent sandwich but ruins it by making out it means he's the greatest chef of all time. It kinda makes it hard to enjoy the sandwich, which is nice enough as it is.

Punk is an asshole. He admits as much on a semi-regular basis. I think that as a human being, I'd find him incessantly annoying and reprehensible.
However, in the wrestling business, 99% of the time you've got to be a prick to succeed, especially in the modern era with WWE's ridiculous fratboy culture that's ingrained in them.
And the thing is, genius and assholery frequently go together. Kanye West is a colossal f***wit but he's also one of the greatest hip-hop producers in history. Punk is a fantastic wrestler and promo guy (especially, notably, as a heel) and he's also a dick. These things are frequently related.

I've heard/read a few interviews with him and personally I just don't like him. CM Punk comes across as someone who truly believes his crap don't stink. Only Hulk Hogan & Bret Hart are worse in terms of displaying arrogance the way Punk does.
I don't think it's him playing up his heel persona either. He's like that as a babyface as well from what I've watched/read. As for his treatment of fans...it's disgusting. He treats the people who support him like they are totally beneath him. He just comes off as not a people person at all which is a shame because his job requires so much of that skill and he clearly doesn't have it.
He has a history of being a total prick to WWE fans (telling a kid to go and kill himself, throwing people's stuff in trashcans, and pulling that little stunt he did last week.) You can argue/defend him all you want...but he is a representative of their company (supposedly the main one) and he is just an embarrassment of that.
It's a good thing I'm not in charge because I'd either fired or suspended him so quick it would leave everyone's head spinning. As for him as a performer...there is no other wrestler on either WWE or TNA rosters who are as over-rated as this guy. This is just my opinion (and probably a few others) but Punk is so over-rated it's sickening. He's average at best and needs bigger names working with him to make a truly entertaining match.
The most praise I hear of his matches are usually when he's working with bigger stars than he is such as: John Cena & HHH etc. Lots of people loved his matches with Bryan...but a lot also found them painfully slow and boring from the reviews I've read on-line.
Having said all that...I find him to be a very over-rated wrestler who is okay at best but certainly not the best in the world at anything.

Probably both.
He's incredibly talented and he knows it, that talent has been rewarded for that over the past year and overall things are pretty good for him.
However despite that success if must be frustrating to wonder how things could have been even better if the period immediately after the MitB win was handled better. It may have led to a new boom period, he could have been the biggest star since Hogan or it could have fizzled away into nothing, it's that "what if?" that kills you.

I love Punk as a wrestler, but would probably hate him in person. Yeah, I feel this way as well. As a character/wrestler, he's entertaining as hell to watch and one of my favorites. As a person, he seems like he'd be miserable to be around. And, again, I want to clarify that I'm a big fan of his. I'm not just trying to run him down. But yeah, I think he would tend to be more arrogant than a "frustrated genius".

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Also known as every CM Punk thread ever. Yes, he's talented, yes, he's a jerk about it, can we talk about something new?

What did Punk say about the Miz?
My opinion - he says what most wrestlers actually think about themselves.

What did Punk say about the Miz? My opinion - he says what most wrestlers actually think about themselves. He was pissed that Miz was the Champion going into WM 27, said that it was a big factor in his choice not to re-sign prior to MITB.

Sounds more like an example of his frustration with WWE's creative direction.

What did Punk say about the Miz? My opinion - he says what most wrestlers actually think about themselves. "Nobody in the company was more pissed off than me, and the final straw was when Miz headlined WrestleMania. His thing is he says 'Really? Really?' ... Really?" Essentially he put himself over as being the #1 heel in the company at the time and that it disgusted him that he was overlooked for the main event. I'm a big mark for both guys, but I agree that after his performances in the Rumble and Chamber matches Punk was on more of a roll than Miz.
