Just got done playing this game again, probably my 3rd time playing through it, and it is just a fantastic game. I would go as far as to call it one of the best games ever, it's just incredible. From the graphics, to the cast, to the deep story, to the great replay value (IMO), it's just a fantastic overall package. I can't wait for the sequel, and I hope that it's as good as the first.
So, what's your opinion on the game? If you haven't played it yet, I'd seriously urge you to. It can get hard at parts in terms of interviewing suspects and reading them, but it's a great game.
Only downside is I can't look at Aaron Staton without thinking of Cole Phelps. ;D

I played it up until the mission where a car ran into a billboard sign or something, or it was near there. Anyway, I thought the graphics were amazing, and I was suckered into the 1940s thing, but honestly it got repetitive and there was no co-op or multiplayer. Actually traded it in 2 weeks ago.

Fantastic game. Pity the development was so troubled that it basically killed the studio that developed it. But still, it's an amazing game, up until the last mission.

This almost to a T. It was fun at first, but I got bored with it and stopped on the second case when you're working in the Arson division.

I completed the game, but agree that it did get repetitive.
I did enjoy the challenges though and spent forever looking for new cars and film reels.

Hmm, I didn't get repetitive from the game at all. I mean, at a basic level I get that, because of the interrogations and clue finding - but I thought the cases and different desks were enough to avoid overall repetitiveness.

Love the game. I particularly get a kick out of how "Doubt" leads to Cole getting WAY angrier than if you outright accuse someone of lying.
Cole: Where were you last night?
Perp: I was at home with my wife.
*DOUBT*
Cole: DO I LOOK LIKE AN ASSHOLE TO YOU?! I WILL CUT YOU OPEN, DO YOU HEAR ME? I WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER!
Alternately...
*LYING*
Cole: I don't believe you. I think you're lying.

I really liked the game, but I wish there was more to do in the game world. They go to the trouble of making an incredible city and outside of your cases there's not really much to do. There's not much replay value, and I thought the last bit of the game was out of place with the rest of it. I did enjoy playing as Jack a lot more than Cole.

It's so hard to read people in that game.

From what I read, the options for interrogation were originally coax, force, and lie, so the game was written as such. That's why his doubt (force) dialogue is so aggressive. But yeah, it's still funny to see him get psycho out of nowhere. Overall, I LOVED this game. Got so damn hooked on it and was sorry to see the story come to an end because I was enjoying it so much. I can understand the complaints of repetitiveness, but I enjoyed the story arc so much that I didn't mind it. The '40s vibe was so well done too. I should probably play through it again...

I thought the patrolman act was great, it started to get repetitive in the homicide act and quality degraded quickly in the vice act to the point that I put it down and didn't come back to it for some time. I picked it up to finish it several months later and then almost quit during the arson act solely because of how unrealistically the city and the force all suddenly turned on Phelps because he had an affair. It managed to pick back up at the end, but it for every great moment or sequence (the movie set, the sewer fight), it had two incredibly stupid moments or sequences (the bulldozer case, the out of nowhere affair, the expectation that we should care about Phelps' family, despite having no interaction with them, your average Phelps interrogation).

I think you're lying. Yes! Greatest part of the game! You could believe them the whole time, then doubt once and be like "WHY DID YOU KILL HER MOTHERf***ER!?" Also, accusing them of lying had no consequence at all, because you could go back on it. I enjoyed it though. The interrogations are fun once you get the hang of them, and the gun battles were fun too.

Was alright, as others have said it got repetitive... and honestly I didn't think the graphics were that great.
Now don't get me wrong the facial tracking stuff they did was amazing... but it seems like that was the only real thing they put money into with their graphics engine and there was always a definitive line where the tracked faces were pasted on. This is especially visible on people that aren't wearing hats.

My brother loved the game, but essentially felt like he was solving more crimes looking for stolen cars than he was on Homicide. I haven't played it, I couldn't really say.
