One of my favorite SRPGs. It's not FFT or Tactics Ogre, but it really is quite nice to have one where there's a lot of humor going on.

I was rolling in laughter at this point, and that was BEFORE I realized the common voice with Laharl.

I named all my characters in Hour of Darkness after the girls from Claymore, just a random note.

Oh yeah, The Prinny series is a ton of fun. Hard as the netherworld, but fun. Kinda hoping that there would be a third Prinny game.

Pangea > Disgaea
That was the first thing I thought of when reading the thread title... apologies.

Fantastic series of games, but it's so easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of how high you can level your characters. Especially when you're something of a completionist like I am. I don't think I'll ever be able to get any of my characters to the cap in any of the games.

I couldn't imagine grinding to the thousands for just a couple bonus battles.

I couldn't imagine grinding to the thousands for just a couple bonus battles. In the first game you can do the Prier and Marjoly battles with a level ~800 Laharl (I think I did it at somewhere around 830, and Laharl was the only character even close to that level). There's a way to cheese Prier so that you can beat her without her being able to attack you, and Prier can take down Marjoly by herself in that battle. Now Baal, on the other hand... Some thoughts: The first two games are super fun, the first one more so, but I haven't played any past that. They've added so much stuff and it's just become too grind-centric for my tastes. Even the first two games were borderline. I love the series' atmosphere and sense of humor, though. The first game's one of the funniest I've ever played. I died when CAPTAIN GORDON, DEFENDER OF EARTH and the EDF showed up, not only because I got the parody but also at how random it was. The "deep-sea diving" uniforms of the EDF soldiers had me rolling as well. Another thing, I hate how they ruined the Majin class in Disgaea 2.

I didn't have the patience for going beyond 350, IIRC.
This thread does have me watching videos of the cutscenes on YouTube. I had forgotten how funny stuff like Mid-Boss in general and Laharl's weakness against fanservice was.

The Majin equivalent of Disgaea 2 didn't seem very interesting to me. With that said, my favorite character is without a doubt the gal in my sig.

They're still strong as hell but a movement range of 3! A throw range of 1! COME ON!! Not to mention it takes forever and a half to level them up.
I know who Asagi is, but I bailed on NIS games before she actually showed up. The joke is that she never actually got her own game, right?

And since then she's been a recurring character in several NIS games. Her sprite in Disgaea 2 had her doing what looks like air guitar, which is adorable.
