Did Kurt Angle's wife really leave him, or was he just working the crowd? Because if she really did leave him because of the business, that's sad.

Also, I would like to mention that Angle's promo last night has to be promo of the year. It was more of a shoot than anything.

Angle gets booed for sacrificing everything for wrestling, and a spoiled rich kid from Massachussets gets cheered to all hell for recycling lame catchphrases. It's obvious who the target market is.

I thought this was a very interesting side of the entire promo; it indeed made at least me for a little sorry for Kurt, but at the same time "the audience" always hates being told they're at fault (which kinda makes sense, are WE really to blame?) So I see the logic, but it was just a very honest moment in a cartoonish feud.

i like "shoot" kurt even more than i like normal kurt. and i've idolized him since 1995, when i started amateur wrestling.

According to our friends at 411mania.com, Angle & his wife indeed seperated a few months back.
So, it's true...it's damn true...according to the internet.

I loved that promo. It was very Foley-esque. And yes, his wife really did leave him.

Angle has sacrificed everything for this business, and he deserves more than he's been given by WWE, in my opinion.

More than a six-figure salary?

"you suck"...? he's an olympic frickin' hero. beat the world's best wrestlers with a broken neck... gave up everything he had for the business........ some things people are motivated by things other than money. but real life aside, it would make sense that he'd think people should appreciate him more... based on his track record... or at least the one he presents....(he did omit shooting the big show with elephant tranquilizers...)

It depends, six figures can mean 100,000 or 999,999. I think Angle being Angle is worth at least 500 k a year considering that Jarret got 200 a year and isn't worthy to lift Angle's singlet.

Anyone remember how when Kurt came back a few months after WM19, he was a face and the crowd still chanted You Suck? Then he asked for his music to be played a 2nd time so that the crowd to chant You Suck again. No wonder people are confused

I don't buy that the Angle interview was a shoot. Obviously, when you are a heel, you want people to chant "You suck." That's the kind of reaction that heels strive for. The worse thing that can happen is if the fans chant nothing at all and don't even acknowledge your existence.
I'm sure that Angle is happy about how over he is as a heel.

I think the whole promo was a (successful) attempt to get Kurt some more heat (bringing back Daivari was also genius, if a touch nonsensical.) I'm sure that the career he loves possibly breaking up his marriage (don't know the whole situation) must be difficult, but at the same time people have been doing the "You Suck" chant FOREVER! I highly doubt that just now he was suddenly all "Wait, that's not very nice. WAAAAAAHHHH!"

Kurt Angle is definatly one of the all-time greats. Assuming that thing about his wife is true, he really has sacraficed a lot for the WWE. I remember once some Olympic medalists in wrestling came and visited my school, and when I asked them if they like Kurt Angle, they started laughing in my face. So, besides the whole thing with his wife, he also sacraficed his whole reputation as a respectable amateur wrestler to come work for the WWE. He's made them a lot of money, so whatever he gets from them he deserves it and then some.
Favorite Kurt Angle Quote: "I was the first Euro-Continental champion in WWF History....well, except for D'Lo Brown, but he doesn't count!"
