Well, that's the modern world for ya. If you don't grow it, hunt it or raise it by your self before you eat it you might as well assume you're eating products made by the finest science DuPont and Monsanto has to offer.

Well that sure was depressing. I dont think I wanna eat salmon anymore. I always mocked the people who hunt, raise, grow their own food and called them rubes and wondered why they just didnt go to the store and buy food but now I respect them a lot more.

You call people "rubes"? Welcome to life as my favorite poster on this board.

I know that vegetarian and fish products aren't immune to this stuff (as the articles there go into), but stuff like this makes me glad that I'm eating a lot less meat these days. Not that what I do eat won't have weird stuff in it, but the whole meat processing industry is horrifying.
Once again, I'll say it: if you want to know why a lot of people in Europe tend to be healthier compared to the States, go some place like Italy and see how much truly fresh food there is in Rome compared to cities here.

I still think that the stress caused by worrying about most things is worse than the actual stuff that you worry about.
Obvious exceptions being anal probes from those damn greys and whomever was driving the white hummer.

I heard about counterfeit olive oil and honey earlier today. Milk and fruit juice are also counterfeited.
I also read that the only reason meat is red is because it's pumped full of nitrates to imitate it having blood.

My cousin is a chemist, and has been for close to 40 years, and he isn't concerned about this stuff at all. Anytime something like this comes out he just says they are trying to get people stirred up, and that most of what we're eating is fine.
It may not be nuts and berries, but it's not cyanide either

It's not cyanide, but it's an appalling lack of nutrition.
Food isn't just meant to fill gaping holes in our stomachs, it's supposed to properly fuel us and contribute to our overall health and well being.
When a lot of food is basically pumped up with liquids/chemicals/etc. that offer no nutritional value, then it no longer serves that function. Our bodies wind up having trouble digesting the nutrients, so we wind up deficient, and typically wind up eating more crap in the process.
It's not like all this stuff is giving us all cancer (though a few of them might be, at least reading up on a couple things mentioned in one of the two articles they have like this), but it's just not contributing to our overall health in any positive way, either, especially when you need mass quantities of the stuff to compensate for all the extra crap thrown in.
