I've recently begun dating a girl I really like, and we are at the stage where we want to know more about one another, and check out each other's interests.
At some point, I would like to introduce her to wrestling, but I am having trouble deciding exactly which event would be best for a female non-fan. I would appreciate input as to which events would fit this criteria best.
For further clarification, I think the best kind of event to start with would be one without a mountain of back-story going into it, so as to minimize explanation on my part (essentially, an event able to stand on its own), as well as as little awkward Diva segments as possible (women's wrestling is fine, though). I also think the match quality is not really a priority, as long as the event as a whole is a solid one.
Suggestions are much appreciated, FAN!

i think it depends on what wrestlers you have even mentioned to her. going by your sig, i think showing her punk\cena from MITB 2011 would be a good start. great match with a really decent story, and the ending to it (if you don't spoil it for her ) is amazing

Have you brought up the subject of wrestling yet? If not, do that first, she might laugh at you and kick you to the curb if you just spring it upon her.

My girlfriend who hates pro wrestling, actually begrudgingly likes chikara. Don't know if you are into chikara but I would recomend starting there.

I would say either PWG or Chikara's tournament shows. DDT4, BOLA, King of Trios, Young Lions Cup, etc, etc.
Not too much backstory to talk of, good to amazing matches, and, more than likely enough comedy to pull in first time viewers.
Also, PWG's 8th anniversary show, imaginatively titled Eight. Just for the PAC/Steen match:
Lone guy in crowd: WE WANT WRESTLING!!!!
Steen(without missing a beat): THIS IS WRESTLING, YA F***FACE!!!!!!
From personal experience, that one moment has made wrestling fans out of people.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far. Maybe this will be the factor in me finally buying PWG. More advice from others is still welcome, just to get a fuller picture. Have you brought up the subject of wrestling yet? If not, do that first, she might laugh at you and kick you to the curb if you just spring it upon her. I have not directly, but I have made wrestling references around her, and I make no secret that I like it (ie. on Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Plus, I've known her for a long time, and I pretty much know she wouldn't dump me over this; I just want to make a good first impression with this weird thing that I love.

Plus there's a bunch of compilation videos and previews posted on there.

My girlfriend's first ever show was Capital Punishment. Strangely enough, she's still watching today.

If it was me I'd downplay the wrestling thing. There has to be some other interests that you can tell her about.

I took my ex to a RoH show once and she had a good time. At one point Kevin Steen came into the audience and fought right next to us up in the bleachers. She was sold.

For classic wrestling, go show her Royal Rumble 1992. Easily my favorite Rumble PPV and in my top 3 PPVs of all time.

Basically, your best bet, in my experience, at getting someone into wrestling, is to show them something that has a mix of great action and some good comedy, hence my suggestions of PWG and Chikara. But yeah, Rumble 92 has amazing action, matched with Heenan's finest hour, plus at least two or three of Flair's most Epic Flops.

A bit of an update to help further refine suggestion: Turns out her dad is a big wrestling fan. I did not ask specifics, but apparently, it's of the level where he has reign over the TV on Monday nights.

Clearly just watch the select bouts from WM4-7
Savage winning the tourny Mega-Powers Explode Hogan wins Warrior wins Iraq wins Savage beats Warrior re-unites with Liz Hogan wins
great stories going along with much of this. Plenty of the backstory for things is available on DVDs and should help her get into it

Chikara. Wacky characters that could actually entertain a non wrestling fan.

Mainstream televised pro wrestling will not do the trick. At least not today's...
BUT if you live anywhere near where PWG or Chikara does a live show, I think that will give her a good idea of how fun the pro wrestling can be.
Worked when IWS in Montreal was in their heyday, I went with many a lady to see shows and they all had a blast.

I understand your instinct to try to start someone off with something simple and avoiding anything with a major angle that takes a lot of explaining, but I actually think that would be a good way to go. It keeps you talking, and remember that the angles are what hook new fans who don't already have an appreciation for pro wrestling in and of itself.

Get this past year's anniversary show, Threemendous III. Not only is this show regarded as one of PWG's best ever by PWG fans everywhere but it has Dat Ladder Match. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch this:

PWG is bad to show a non wrestling fan. It has no story, just movez. It's wrestling porn essentially for smarks

PWG is bad to show a non wrestling fan. It has no story, just movez. It's wrestling porn essentially for smarks ...And yet almost every non-wrestling fan that I've spoken to that goes to PWG shows walks out of it a fan. I wonder why that is? Could it be that PWG is a quality organization that doesn't have to depend on some type of story for every little thing? Those converts and everybody else seems to think so.
