Our current (as of October 24th 2012) WWE Champion is almost always at the forefront of our discussions here at FAN. His actions in and out of the ring always provide plenty of debate and discussion, but now it's time to draw the battle lines and for everyone to pick a stance. To clear up any definitions:
Wrestler = An opinion on how Punk performs as a Wrestler technically in the ring.
Person = An opinion you've developed on Punk the person, through tweets/dvds/interviews etc. Not CM Punk the character but Phillip Brooks the person.
Gimmick = CM Punk's current role as the heel champion who demands respect.

I went with all hate, but that's because of lack of a better option. It's more I'm completely sick of the wrestler and gimmick though he is very talented (on the mic, anyway - I think he's pretty average in the ring), and the guy's an asshole.

I'm all in.
Great wrestler, great gimmick, and we share the same insanely low tolerance for annoying, stupid people. I can relate.

Brilliant wrestler currently with a terrible gimmick; portrayed by a man who comes across like a complete asshole.
He can hate the fans all he wants, just not to their faces or on twitter. If he was in the public eye of most other companies, they would be dragging him over hot coals over his attitude.

Always loved CM Punk the wrestler, And I honestly think I would get along just fine with Phil Brooks the person, especially since I already am kinda sorta friendly with one of his best friends.

That's way too many options dude. The way I see it is there are a lot of shades of grey when it comes to having an opinion on someone in the world of Professional Wrestling. For example, I respect and like John Cena as a person tremendously but I find him stale and boring in his current gimmick. If I just put up "Like CM Punk" "Hate CM Punk", I bet a lot of posts would have come in saying "I used to like Punk but he's boring now" or "I like Punk as a wrestler, but he seems like a dick in real life so I vote hate" or something. Yes I know it perhaps shouldn't matter how we judge the Wrestlers as genuine Humans, but with WWE increasingly pushing social media/youtube/tout etc etc it's harder and harder to NOT have an opinion on these guys as performers AND as people and sometimes that does matter.

At first, I was like "nah, he's not an asshole" But then AJ's legs hypnotized me into believing anything you say, ever. Wow.

Damn, should have read the OP's definitions before voting. Went option 1 but would have gone 2 after seeing the definitions.
Love the wrestler, love the person, cannot stand the respect gimmick. I have a low tolerance for rude people and idiot before but after being a mod that tolerance disappeared fast. The sheer amount of shitstains that hide behind the anonymity that a throw away screen name/account and try to act like they deserve something just for remembering to breathe is astounding to me just based on this board, I cannot imagine having to deal with the numbers he gets. Then you go into public and expect common courtesy like being able to take a piss in peace or a simple please/thank you, get upset after hundreds to thousands of people ignore things like that and you are the asshole. I'll never get that. You can point out that "Person A" never got mad but news flash, not everyone shares the same make up, not everyone reacts the same way to the same things and not everyone gets the same amount of coverage that other people do. You never hear of him acting like an ass toward kids or anyone that doesn't know better, just the assholes that should know how to act but don't.

Oops, I misread too. I love the wrestler, love the person, love the STRAIGHT EDGE gimmick. The one now absolutely sucks.

The people he does it to however can for the most part "take it". It would be a PR disaster if he did it to kids and such like. Even he knows better than to stoop that low. I'm just of the opinion after working in a company where public perception is everything, that you need to find a new career if you can't go about conducting yourself in a decent manner. Punk shouldn't have to deal with it no, but it doesn't give him the excuse to treat fans (customers) like crap.

How the hell do you not have the most obvious choice: Love the wrestler, hate the person, love the gimmick? Although, to be fair, I don't know all that much about Punk as a person, so it'd be more "love the wrestler, dislike the person, love the gimmick."

Can't stand him. I find the character obnoxious and annoying. I think he's vastly overrated in the ring. And as a person he comes off as a total prick that thinks he's above everyone for a variety of reasons. I genuinely hope goes through with retiring early like he says he would. I've been watching wrestling for my entire life and I've watched maybe a dozen Raws since he became a focal point last summer. He gets nothing but X-pac heat from me.

It's his personal life and personal time he's taking to sign things unless it's a pre-apporved signing. It's no different than what you see from every other wrestler who refuses to sign thing when eating or for anyone they thing is just getting stuff signed to go on eBay.

Why even bother?
By this point he's going to think y'all are creeping on him.
As if he needed an excuse to become even more of an ass.
