Its one thing I never saw. I saw him when he was a heel and saw him when he was a face but I never saw the actual turn itself did anyone here see it?

I think it was cemented when Sid powerbombed him like 3 times, the night after WrestleMania 11. I think he said in his book they knew they needed to do it when he got a predominantly face reaction at the event.

Definitely the Sid incident. He was getting pretty mixed reactions before that, but this was his official turn.

The youtube video posted about has been blocked. Is this the one where Sid botched the first powerbomb, or is that another incident?

I remember them hyping up his return in a KOTR qualifier against King Kong Bundy and I thought, oh, so he's a good guy. Now I don't have to feel awkward for liking the guy so much! (I was 11)

On a related note, I always found those last couple powerbombs Sid gave HBK were... weird. He lifted him up and just... let go and dropped him. Sid usually follows through with the move until impact (which I suspect is a lot safer bump to take, and also looks way better). Was it because Shawn kind of botched the first one? Oddly edited video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfGe8NiM3zo

I think Bret in his book said he reckoned at wm11 that Shawn played Nash a bit in there match as it came out with him looking more sympathetic and heroic

Shawn says in his book, he knew when he kicked out of the powerbomb, he'd get a face reaction. I might have the wrong part of the match, but Shawn says he knew it would turn him face.

yeah it happened right after mania 11, and If i remeber correctly something happened in the match where michaels had diesel beat cleanly for a 3 count, but the ref was knocked out. so that steered him towards being a face too.

From what I can rememer, the fans loved it when Sid powerbombed Michaels...and they went absolutely wild at Survivor Series 96 when he hit Sweatsock Jose Lothario (who everybody was sick of at that point) with the camera and then pinned michaels
Also the camera Sid hits Lothario with was mic'd...so you hear a very funny "Grooooooaaaahh" when he makes contact

It's not just the match itself, which was amazing, but the commentary. I remember them going out of their way to put Michaels over on commentary during the WMXI match. I really, really like that match. That show's not so good but that match is underrated IMO. I'm not sure if it's better than Good Friends, Better Enemies, though. Probably not.

He was a heel 90% of the time and people were still dying to cheer for him.
