Everyone knows the Ric Flair climbing the top rope/getting tossed off one. But what other common misses are there that aren't as well known?
I am watching the Undertaker's streak DVD on Netflix and in every match it seems he lays the opponent out and goes for a big running elbow drop but misses. I had never noticed it before I started watching so many of his matches in a short time.

When Undertaker is a heel he almost never hits Old School.

DiBiase would always miss when he jumped backwards off the turnbuckles to deliver an elbow. Bret always seemed to miss his elbow off the second turnbuckle (not the one where he drives the elbow into the chest/throat, the one where he would go for an elbow drop and land on his back).

If the Barbarian went to the top rope to drop an elbow - he missed.
Then there's the classic 'heel holds face, manager takes a shot, face ducks and heel gets hammered inadvertently'.
As Monsoon would say "He telegraphed than manoeuvre." or "He went to the well once too often with that one"
..as a kid I had no idea what either meant. Still don't. But it was a nicer way of saying '****-up'

Whenever Jumbo Tsuruta got his Thesz Press countered into a top rope guillotine in a big match, it usually meant that he was going to lose.
I remember that happening against Tenryu and I think Misawa.

These days, pretty much any time a heel goes for a Banzai drop

Bubba Ray always misses the top rope senton. lol but if he does ever hit it, it's an automatic win. That's actually his finisher, he just has terrible luck with hitting it.

But it was a nicer way of saying '****-up' telegraphing a maneuver means you gave your opponent a warning what was going to happen. Hulk Hogan. Stop. Will be going to the top rope. Stop. Ric Flair. Stop So Hogan meets him there. Going to the well once to often means you did something repeatedly until it was unsuccessful, like going to get water from a well until it's dry. As for misses, everyone who ever faced Kidman and lost had to go for a power bomb

Iron Mike Sharpe never did hit his signature "Foot & A Half" dropkick.

You know, I absolutely marked out when JR finally called out Flair on The Flying Whatever.
"What's Flair doing now...Oh come on, this never works, Ric, what are you thin...yup, he got caught!"

Kurt Angle's moonsaults almost always missed. I could be wrong, but I believe this is because after he broke Bob Holly's arm, no one trusted him to hit one correctly. Triple H may have been the first guy to let him connect with it. Believe he talks about this in his book.

He's actually hit moves on the top more than most realize. He did it to Carlito, he did it to Jarrett on Nitro, and I think he might have gotten Hunter at one point, and it always gets a great reaction because of the other 498489 times he misses.

A current example would be Big Show's vader bomb/ elbow drop or whatever it is. I'm not sure because I can't remember him ever hitting it!

Razor Ramon setting an opponent up for the Razor's Edge...while standing with the ropes two feet in front of him. Seriously, is there anyone who doesn't see a back body drop coming?

Not may people realize he did it so much because he went to the top rope to beat Harley Race for his first NWA title.

In most of his more brawl orientated matches in 98/99 Austin would always try to piledrive his opponent on the outside. It would always, always be reversed. I don't know why he kept trying...
Actually, I do, because he did finally hit a piledriver on the outside (on concrete) on Kurt Angle in 2001.
