So early friday morning i woke up and noticed a small rash by my eye and a little red bump on my chin. I had just shaved the night before so i assumed it was razor burn or some irritation. As the day went on i notice underneath my chin felt tender as hell as did the back of my neck, they were swollen pretty bad... Wake up Saturday and theres more red on my face and that little red bump is not huge and looks infected... one sleepless night later and DR told me I have shingles and boy do they suck...its on the left side of my face and looks so nasty and feels like my face is on fire! I always heard about shingles and how painful it was but i never knew till now...blisters all down left side of my checks to my chin...canker sores around the edges of my mouth and now i have the worst toothache ive ever had to Anyone have any experiance with shingles? espically on the face. Im dreading going to work looking like this...

My mother had them not too long ago. And judging with how she went with them, I sure as hell hope I don't catch them anytime soon.

My best mate had a case about a month ago.
It's the same virus as Chicken Pox and it's generally recommended you dont go to work with it as symptoms, as you can likely feel, are similar to flu (due to the swollen stuff), plus pain. He was told to try and stay in bed, to avoid touching or itching them and to try and keep the areas around them clean, so as to avoid infection and lower scarring potential.
Take a few days off, it's not like it's not a real thing and you can always send them a picture if they think you're faking it or something.
The annoying thing is, is that even when you're healed, there is a 25% chance of continued 'ghost pain' from nerve damage.

Working in a nursing home, I've seen the effects it can have. If you think you have it bad, be grateful you're not older or in poor health. It can really mess you up bad.

I had Shingles a couple of years ago, and they were near the eye. My Zod it sucked.
Take a few days off. The doctor had me out of work for 4 days, luckily the steroids he prescribed took the swelling down pretty fast.

Got them about 2 years ago on my chest... Thankfully I didn't get them that bad, but they still sucked.

I had shingles a couple of years ago, but fortunately, the rash was contained to just a small area on the right side of my chest.
I had all of the other symptoms, though, as I was sore all over and had a flu.
My doctor asked me if I was going through any stress at the time and I was actually really under the gun with a couple of assignments at school, so this is what he thinks brought it on.

Oh god, I remember a few years ago having a bad case of it on my legs. I could barely move and it was SO painful.

I had them when I was ten thankfully. The actual rash didn't hurt at all but I had a massive fever for two days and had to miss a week of school and as I didn't feel ill after the fever, just had the bumps still, thought it was great.
