Watching last night it seemed so freaking tall. Almost as if you could fit a tw story house inside.
I don't remember other ones being that tall.
Has this been the design for the last couple of years?

It seemed taller than before to me. Maybe part of it is that Ryback and Punk are both short compared to guys like Cena, Orton, Sheamus, HHH, Undertaker, Edge, etc.

Yes, they changed it to make sure they would never dare do anymore insanely stupid stunts from the top anymore...or so we thought until last night that is.

Notice Punk after taking the RyBacks finisher he rolled over to get off of the fencing almost immediately it would of sucked to have seen it collapse.

Wikipedia says that the original cage was 16 feet tall and weighed over two tons. At some point it grew to 20 feet and now weighs five tons.

They changed it for the DX vs. McMahons/Big Show Match and talked about how it had to be amplified to hold so many people, including Show.

There really is no need at all for the cage to be so tall.

Now I want to see a 4 foot HIAC cage where action goes to the top and JR freaks out when someone falls off.

Not really. When the purpose of a cage is meant to keep people locked near each other, the smaller the better. Unless you got giants fighting in the cage, why is it so tall?
Must be so they can say "it's bigger then the average American home!"

It's because Vince has a small penis, Jericho told me years ago.

I was just happy to see them do a spot on the cage since it's been so long.

I've been wondering about that. Perhaps they made it taller so they wouldn't be tempted to do anymore huge bumps?

2006 Unforgiven was the debut of the 'new' HIAC. The old one had huge holes on the sides in, and definitely was in need of repair. I think the Ryback/Punk spot was the second bump done on the top of that Cell: In 2009, the RAW before HIAC, Cena dropped Orton with an AA on top.
