The rating has fallen nearly every week during the third hour, though. If you have a dangerous force of nature coming your way, the last thing I care about seeing whose on Foley's Survivor Series team.

Whether going 3 hours is a mistake can only be known by looking at revenue from 3 hours vs. 2 hours. Maybe the overall rating is down because it's three over 3 hours, but the ad revenue is surely up because there in an extra hour's worth of ads. And you'd also have to factor in what the rating was for whatever led into Raw when it was a 2-hour show. Even if the rating number dips slightly, WWE is still offering advertisers a pretty narrowly focused target demographic that is attractive -- it's not a coincidence that there are so many video game and movie ads, because the people spending money on those are probably mostly younger males -- the people who make up the Raw audience. And that's the reason they went 3 hours. USA requested it and WWE get more money for the coffers. And if USA is happy with the current ratings, that's all that matters because they are ones who yah or nah on re-upping or cancelling WWE's tv contract. Also, it was the second-most watched program on cable Monday behind only the football game. People like to compare ratings to what they were in the Attitude Era peak, but don't figure in the fact that there are now more than 100 channels on cable even for a lot of basic packages vs. a few dozen back in the day. Network hit shows also get smaller shares. It' a different world. WWE, no matter what the IWC thinks of the booking, is a hit. Every cable channel but ESPN with Monday Night Football would gladly have traded ratings with Raw last night.

It's still amazing to me how popular professional wrestling is nationally. 1 out of every 30 households or so watches RAW and is aware of such people as Alberto Del Rio and Heat Slater. (4 million out of about 115 million households). It has to be around 1 in 15 among households containing people in their actual targeted demographics. It seems like something so ridiculous should be so much more niche than that, especially in a "down" time.

In the segment-by-segment, the show opened with the C.M. Punk promo and Mick Foley coming out first quarter doing a 3.21. Ryback vs. JTG lost 432,000 viewers so Ryback is still not a ratings draw. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett gained 123,000 viewers. Daniel Bryan & Kane vs. Prime Time Players gained 1,000 viewers. The Vickie Guerrero/John Cena in ring at 9 p.m. gained 373,000 viewers, although 9 p.m. has become a traditional gain spot doing a 3.25. Kofi Kingston vs. Antonio Cesaro and A.J. Lee and Vickie Guerrero backstage lost 451,000 viewers. Zack Ryder & Santino Marella vs. Jinder Mahal & Heath Slater and A.J. Lee vs. Beth Phoenix lost 304,000 viewers, so Lee wrestling is not a big deal to viewers. At 2.70, it was the low point of the show. The Sheamus and Big Show in-ring 324,000 viewers, which came at 10 p.m., and is the best 10 p.m. growth in a while doing a 2.94. Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow lost 189,000 viewers.
The in-ring Susan G. Komen check presentation lost 143,000 viewers. Alberto Del Rio vs. Justin Gabriel gained 59,000 viewers. The Punk/Foley team announcement gained 708,000 viewers to a show high 3.26 overrun.

It doesn't matter who was in the Ryback/JTG spot. That segment would've tanked regardless. That's always the case after the opener.

So the fact that it was also 8 other people in those segments that lost viewers...means that Lee isn't a big deal to viewers? I don't know who wrote that breakdown so I can't comment on them; but you can't seriously blame all those lost viewers on her. 1 out of 9 people can't be held responsible...or maybe they can be. She's no doubt partly responsible but lest we forget the segment talking about her with Vickie/Cena drew. Also Berto and Sheamus/Show drew. Says enough to me.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett gained 123,000 viewers. Daniel Bryan & Kane vs. Prime Time Players gained 1,000 viewers. Alberto Del Rio vs. Justin Gabriel gained 59,000 viewers. Surprised by those, figured they would've lost viewers with the trend of matches in odd time slots losing viewers. Wish the AJ stuff would've done better but it isn't surprising.

As someone who had outages, most of them happened after 7, before RAW even started. 8-9 at the most, when high tide was coming in.

I live in Southern Delaware and live about 100 miles south of where the storm made land fall. We lost power at about 7 ECT which was well over 5 hours before the storm even made landfall. So I missed RAW all together and we're right near coast line, so it wouldn't shock me at all if more people on the East Coast dealt with the same problem as the night went on.

I say we credit Justin Gabriel for ADR's segment gaining viewers.

Or maybe Ryback destroying JTG isn't a ratings draw? Yeah, never mind the other people involved in those segments.

Zach Ryder was the ratings-loser there, obviously. And Alberto Del Rio gained viewers. IWC in a tizzy! ;D
